10 Things You Didn’t Know about Rila Fukushima

Rila Fukushima almost seems to be made for comic book roles since she has the kind of look and attitude that has helped her fulfill such roles with great skill. That being said however she’s also a very dedicated actress that is kind of still paying her dues and yet doing such a great job that she deserves a lot of credit for hanging in there with some of the best in the business and creating her own solid and very stable career. As of now she’s definitely easy to pick out of a crowd and is well-known just about anywhere she goes. Her roles in American films have been supporting mostly but she’s been the kind of character that’s important to the main part of the story and is not replaceable. That’s the kind of notoriety that many actors work hard for most of their lives and several achieve early on.

Here are a few things you might not have known about her.

10. She intended to be a modeling agent.

This was her goal to start with but instead she was given the opportunity to be a model, which she took. It would be kind of a step up from being an agent it seems depending on how one looks at things. The exposure is certainly greater and would all for a higher level of fame.

9. She’s worked for both Marvel and DC projects.

There have been a few people that have gone back and forth between DC and Marvel and a lot of fans tend to look at them askance, perhaps wondering just which one they prefer. While actors might have their preferences one has to remember that no matter where they go it’s a job, they’re getting paid to play the part, so their preference isn’t always the deciding factor.

8. She was in The Wolverine.

Some would say this movie is kind of forgettable, others might admit to having liked it. There were several instances in which the choreography and special effects were quite good, but at the same time the story kind of faded in and out.

7. She has a rather short filmography.

Just going by her filmography it doesn’t look like she’s done a lot in her career but when you look at the films and shows she’s appeared in you might want to think twice since she has some very impressive credits to her name.

6. She was in Game of Thrones.

Anytime a person saw a red priestess hanging around or spewing their beliefs to the masses, who listened a lot of times, it was best to be on your way unless you wanted to join or were somehow interested in what they had to say. Tyrion wasn’t one to stick around once he’d gotten this particular priestess’ attention.

5. She’s appeared in Arrow.

It’s kind of amusing really to see people go back and forth between DC and Marvel since some of them will put in a greater effort in one or the other and then kind of phone it in when they go to the opposite studio. Of course a lot of it has to do with the writing, the dialogue, and the different cast members and their on screen chemistry.

4. She was in Ghost in a Shell.

Obviously there are some heavy and very involved special effects going on but she did play one of the geisha robots. It was uniquely creepy the way their faces opened up and especially terrifying when their limbs became multi-jointed, allowing them to crawl up the wall like metal, four-legged arachnids. All in all this was kind of a disturbing movie in many ways.

3. Her career started in 2012.

So she hasn’t been around that long but she’s also not such a newbie that she doesn’t know what’s going on in the industry. She’s likely seen a few things and learned how stuff works at this point, enough to know how to navigate her way around and through the system.

2. Her social media following is kind of impressive.

Whether a person is extremely famous or not this seems to be the one thing that remains a constant between all actors. Rarely will you ever seen an actor’s social media following be less than one thousand, but quite often you’ll see them be in the tens to hundreds of thousands. People want to know what’s going on with them apparently and what they’re going to be showing up in and, well, everything about them that they possibly can.

1. She attended music school for two years after high school.

So she did something other than modeling and acting before she really got into the business. Music school is just about as expensive depending on where you go and and what you’re studying it seems. But obviously it wasn’t for her at the time.

She’s an interesting person to watch quite honestly.
