As Season 8 of “The Walking Dead” approaches, fans of AMC’s apocalypse hit are getting teasers from several trailers. Season 7 ended in April leaving fans with cliffhangers as usual. As we await the October 22 airing of the Season 8 premier, we have also been reminded that it will be the 100th episode of the series. The trailers promise us a big return as Rick and his allies head into full out war with Negan and his Saviors.
Here is a ranking of the Season 8 trailers for “The Walking Dead”.
8. Rise Up Trailer
This is a fan made trailer for “The Walking Dead’s” Season 8. It’s taken from the official Comic-Con trailer (see #1). We see flashes of the war to come. The best part is it shows us the key players in the war. All of our favorites are there even our favorite tiger Shiva.
7. We are going to war
In this trailer, as Rick and the allies prepare for war, we see a flashback to when Rick was willing to deal with Negan and give him what he wanted. Then we are treated to Rick’s new reserve to fight which we saw throughout Season 7. We know he is ready to do whatever it takes to stop Negan and his Saviors.
6. AMC Trailer
This AMC trailer includes scenes from Season 7. As we prepare for Season 8, we are reminded of what our favorite survivors have been through under Negan’s rule. It ends with a helicopter crash and a flash to the air date of Season 8’s premier, October 22, 2017.
5. Rick’s promise to Negan
In this emotional trailer we see Rick’s promise to kill Negan. The start of the trailer has Rick telling Michonne he can’t sleep and that he’s remembering his friends. He reminds himself that Glen saved him in the beginning but he couldn’t save Glen. Despite Negan’s taunts, Rick meant his word that he would kill Negan. The last thing we hear is Shiva’s roar.
4. Human Trailer
A remix of the Comic-Con official trailer features the song “Human” by Rag ‘n’ Bones (see #1). The scenes of the Comic-Con trailer are changed around starting with Negan’s call to arms and ending with Negan’s harassment of Father Gabriel. In between we get glimpses of our core characters and the allies preparing for war with the Saviors with Rick’s narrative calling the allies to arms. Some would argue this is better than the official Comic-Con trailer.
3. AMC Official Trailer

AMC’s official trailer for Season 8 of “The Walking Dead” is intense. It starts with a blank screen and we hear Rick and Negan’s conversation back when Negan tried to break Rick after killing Abraham and Glen. We hear Rick promise to kill Negan eventually. We then hear a series of gunshots which and finally are shown the scenes where Rick has killed over the course of the series including his animalistic attack on Joe. Then we see a rosary in someone’s hands. This trailer reminds us of how Rick has grown over the past 7 seasons of the series. He’s much changed with every event he’s endured. We look forward to the toughened up Rick defending honor and manning up for the right reasons to take control in the post apocalyptic world of “The Walking Dead”.
2. Ghosts
This is one of the most poignant trailers for Season 8. The trailer shows flashbacks to major events that occurred over the first 7 seasons of “The Walking Dead” with Rick’s voiceover. He says it’s been 10 years and they should remember. It’s heart wrenching to see the deaths that played out over the seasons of the show and even more important when Rick reminds us that they can’t forget those who have gone before them. We’re reminded by Rick that the group is “fighting for something”. They are ghosts and soldiers. We are reminded that “the stage is set for a whole new chapter”.
1. Official Comic-Con Trailer

“The Walking Dead” has always released its first trailer for the Fall season at Comic-Con. On July 21, the show’s creators released what is the best of Season 8’s trailers. As always, we are given a glimpse into the next Season but also teased as what to expect.
The trailer opens with Negan tormenting Father Gabriel in his typical style. As promised the start of Season 8 will be the “all out war” between Rick and the allies against Negan’s Saviors. “The Walking Dead’s” show runners and stars have promised that Season 8 will focus on the core characters of the show. The trailer shows the allies preparing for war with shots of the core characters we know and love including Rick, Michione, Darrel, Carol, Morgan, Carl, Maggie, Sasha and the rest. Over the shots we hear Rick’s motivational speech to the allies which includes Alexandria, Hilltop and The Kingdom. Rick promises that good will prevail over the Saviors who “use and kill”.
We see action as Darrel rides on his motorcycle setting up traps for the Saviors. Then we see something shocking. A cane, flowers and a seemingly aged Rick laying on a white sheet. Fans of the comic books know that following the war with the Saviors, the comics took a time jump. Is that what we can expect or is this an indication of something more? What we do know is that Season 8 is going to be an exciting one filled with action but also reminding us of the strength of the toughened up characters we have grown to love so much.
