Last year, it was officially announced that FOX is bringing back the crime drama Prison Break for a limited event series that will continue the story of Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell). In the past few weeks, we have been getting announcements about several original Prison Break actors signed on to come back for the 10-episode limited series.
Today FOX announced the return of three more stars from the original series as Robert Knepper (T-Bag), Rockmond Dunbar (C-Note) and Amaury Nolasco (Fernardo Sucre) are all back for the show. It was also recently announced that Sarah Wayne Callies has also signed on to come back as Sara Tancredi.
Despite the way the show ended in Prison Break: The Final Break, the story will continue with Miller’s character still being around. Other than the announcements of who will be back on the show, FOX has yet to reveal any clear plot details on what the limited series is all about. Currently, Miller and Purcell can be seen as the villainous Captain Cold and Heatwave on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow over at The CW. Filming is expected to start next month and there is a chance that there might be a brief video presentation at the FOX Upfront that is happening in May.

Robert Knepper (David Lynch’s “Rancho Rosa”), Rockmond Dunbar (“The Path,” “The Mentalist”) and Amaury Nolasco (“Telenovela,” “Gang Related”) will reprise their roles in the all-new event series PRISON BREAK, which is set to premiere during the 2016-2017 season on FOX.
Knepper (THEODORE “T-BAG” BAGWELL), Dunbar (BENJAMIN MILES “C-NOTE” FRANKLIN) and Nolasco (FERNANDO SUCRE) join previously announced cast members Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell and Sarah Wayne Callies, who reprise their roles as brothers MICHAEL SCOFIELD and LINCOLN BURROWS and DR. SARA TANCREDI, respectively. In the drama’s new chapter, when clues surface that suggest a previously thought-to-be-dead Michael may be alive, Lincoln and Sara reunite to engineer the series’ biggest escape ever, as three of Fox River State Penitentiary’s most notorious escapees, T-Bag, C-Note and Sucre, are pulled back into the action.
An immediate critical and ratings hit when the original series premiered in the fall of 2005, the new event series will hit the ground running, reuniting the original producing team, including series creator Paul T. Scheuring (“Klondike”), Neal Moritz (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise), Marty Adelstein (“Aquarius,” “Last Man Standing”) and Dawn Olmstead (“The Whispers,” “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce”), who return to executive-produce the new series, with Scheuring serving as showrunner/writer.
The original action drama PRISON BREAK centered on a young man (Miller) determined to prove his convicted brother’s (Purcell) innocence and save him from death row by hatching an elaborate plan to escape from prison. A breakout success in its premiere season, garnering Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Television Series — Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series — Drama (Miller), as well as winning the People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama, PRISON BREAK thrilled audiences for four heart-pounding seasons, ending its run in May 2009.
The series will be produced 20th Century Fox Television. Paul T. Scheuring, Neal Moritz, Marty Adelstein, Dawn Olmstead, Vaun Wilmott, Michael Horowitz and Nelson McCormick will serve as executive producers. McCormick will also serve as director. “Like” PRISON BREAK on Facebook at facebook.com/prisonbreak. Follow the series on Twitter @PrisonBreak and join the discussion using #PrisonBreak.
