The executive producer of Preacher Seth Rogen has announced on Twitter that a Season 3 of the TV show will be starting up in 2018. More exact information has not been released, but considering what happened at the end of Season 2, it seems probable that Season 3 will be much changed while still retaining the core characteristics that made it a success with its viewers.
What Can We Expect from Season 3?
What happened in Season 2 of Preacher was that Tulip was shot by Lara. Unfortunately, Jesse was unable to use Genesis to save her, but at the same time, was unwilling to let Cassidy turn her into a vampire. As a result, the two are now headed towards Angelville, where there happens to be a chicken that was resurrected when Jesse was still a teenager. Meanwhile, both Eugene and Hitler have managed to make it out of hell, with the result that Hitler bolted as soon as possible.
Based on this conclusion to Season 2, there are a number of things that can be expected from Season 3. For example, it seems probable that Jesse will be confronting his grandmother Marie L’Angelle sooner rather than later considering where he is headed, which should prove satisfying considering the examples of his childhood treatment that have been shown in Preacher so far. Furthermore, it seems probable that the escape from Hell will have far-reaching consequences, though it remains to be see exactly what those will be. Summed up, while it is difficult to predict the exact contents of Season 3 of Preacher, it is safe to say that it has the potential to be an exciting season.
When Can We Expect Season 3?
As for the rest, there is a lack of information that can be used to speculate further about Season 3 of Preacher. For example, it is known that it can be expected in 2018, but a lack of information makes it challenging to predict when that will happen. Still, considering that Season 1 started broadcasting in May of 2016 and Season 2 started broadcasting in June of 2017, it seems probable that Season 3 will start broadcasting at some time around those months in 2018 as well.
Besides this, it will be interesting to see whether Season 3 of Preacher will be able to restore the numbers for the TV show. For those who have not been paying attention, the premiere of Season 1 had 2.38 million viewers, which had fallen to 1.72 million viewers by the conclusion of Season 1. This is consistent with how the premiere of Season 2 had 1.69 million viewers, though that had soon plunged to 1.11 million viewers by the third episode. As a result, the conclusion of Season 2 had 0.97 million viewers, which is not a number that encourages optimism when it comes to Season 3. After all, a continuation of that trend would put the existence of a potential Season 4 in serious doubt.
Regardless, that is still far off into the future, meaning that it is still much too soon to speculate about it at length. As production proceeds on Season 3 of Preacher, more information will be released, meaning that interested individuals should continue paying attention to the latest news on what is happening.
