‘Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel’ Trailer Released

Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel is coming this January 27th and they’ve got an all new look, new zords, and, well, you get it. To be quite honest it’s kind of cool that the Power Rangers are still a hot thing with kids but I didn’t ever think they’d last this long. From what I can recall of the original show people had gotten tired of it after a while since it was a lot of the same thing. Rita or whoever was in charge of the bad guys would send a bunch of foot soldiers to harass the Rangers and then when that didn’t work the big guns would be sent in, meaning that a monster that the Rangers would have initial troubles with would start kicking the living crap out of them and prove to be too much to handle.

Then of course the monster would grow thanks to the power of the main bad guy, and then it would be time for the zords to come out and play. No one ever knew where they really came from unless they read up on the show and its entirety but the fact remained that they were always within reach no matter where the Rangers were. If the zords could take out the monster without forming up into a massive robot it was rare, but one that happened it was like something straight out of Godzilla as the two titanic opponents went at each other, seemingly not caring that they were wrecking the landscape beneath them. I do recall in the original Power Rangers that the setting was always somewhere without people and cars, as this probably would have meant a lot bigger special effects budget.

Also, I’ve been so out of touch with the Rangers for so long that I had no idea how many different versions of them there were. Learning that the originals weren’t the only Rangers out there was kind of a trip. Learning that there are Ninja Rangers now was kind of interesting since it made me wonder whether or not they behave like ninjas or are just given that title to make them sound that much more awesome to the kids. Let’s face it, calling someone a ninja is high praise when you’re a kid since ninjas are thought to be stealthy, quick, and very skilled. The original Power Rangers seem more basic when placed next to such Rangers, though from the preview it looks like the show hasn’t added too much to the budget. It’s certainly come up with new villains and obviously more cast members to fill the spots.

For kids this show is pretty cool still and the fact that it’s endured for so long is pretty impressive. Like I said, some people got tired of the constant and very predictable back and forth battles, but that doesn’t mean that the upcoming generations would get tired of them so easily. From the trailer it looks like this might appeal to younger children and be a popular show that kids can enjoy.
