When you look at the world of Broadway and stage acting, there’s perhaps no bigger name out there in the world than Patti LuPone. While LuPone’s made plenty of appearances in movies and television it’s her stage acting and singing ability that people have come to know and love for decades. Those who know don’t know LuPone should know that this is also a women that does not back down from an opinion or comments she’s made, nor have any qualms about sharing her views.
Asked on the Tonys red carpet why Donald Trump should come see her perform in her current Broadway show War Paint, legendary performer Patti LuPone didn’t mince words, noting: “Well I hope he doesn’t because I won’t perform if he does.” When asked why, she calmly explains, “Because I hate the motherf****r, how’s that?” You can watch the amazing exchange at the start of this Variety video:
LuPone is also famous for stopping shows mid-performance to chastise audience members for using their phones or taking pictures. There’s every reason to think she’d be just as up front and ruthless with Donald Trump if he were in the crowd.
