The Official Trailer of A Wrinkle in Time Has Been Released

The official trailer of the much-awaited Disney film A Wrinkle in Time has been released. It premiered during the American Music Awards. The trailer features tons of new footage that takes you into an adventurous and visually stunning world created by Madeleine L’Engle, the author of the book that it is based from.

After learning that her astrophysicist father is being held captive on a distant planet deep in the grip of a universe-spanning evil, Meg Murry (Storm Reid) works with her highly intelligent younger brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe), her classmate Calvin O’Keefe (Levi Miller), and three astral travelers to save him. The film takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.

A Wrinkle in Time is directed by Ava DuVernay from a screenplay written by Jennifer Lee, based on the 1962 novel of the same by L’Engle. Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peña, Andre Holland, Zach Galifianakis, Chris Pine, Bellamy Young, Reid, McCabe, and Miller star in the film. It was shot in California and New Zealand. Ramin Djawadi will compose the score. DuVernay notably became the first African-American woman to direct a live-action film with a budget of over $100 million (the film has a reported budget of $103 million).

There was previously a television film adaptation of the novel back in 2003 which was aired on ABC and produced by Disney as well. Katie Stuart, Gregory Smith, David Dorfman, and Alfre Woodard co-star in that version.

The film is set to be released on March 9, 2018 in Real D 3D and IMAX 3D. Here is the official trailer:
