Juliette and Rayna are both nominated for “Female Vocalist of the Year” for the CMA’s, which means it is time to party…and get a little out of control? It wouldn’t be Nashville without a little fun mixed with some serious drama!
As Juliette is dealing with the aftermath of Dante stealing over a million dollars from her, Rayna is waking up next to the love of her life–Deacon. Yay, Rayna! Is there a silver lining for Juliette? Well, at least she is up for a CMA. Too bad it is against the greatest country singer in Nashville–yikes.
In other news, Gunnar is avoiding Will after their late-night kiss last week and Scarlett has no clue what is going on. She does however utter the greatest line this week saying, “Am I witnessing the death of a bromance?” Plus, Gunnar is recording his brother’s song but won’t tell Scarlett anything about it. Looks like there may be trouble in paradise.
As far as lovebirds go, Rayna and Deacon are both clearly in love with one another even though everyone is trying to talk them out of being together. Even Teddy has an opinion on their relationship. He tells her to end it in order to protect Maddie, who is actually Deacon’s daughter, so she will never find out their secret. So intense!
In the midst of the Deacon and Rayna’s happiness, Juliette is quickly falling apart. She has turned to drinking in order to deal with her Dante ordeal and is trying to campaign for the CMA award by herself and without telling anyone her current problems.
At the Edgehill Records celebration party for Rayna and Juliette, everything comes to the surface. Juliette is hammered and therefore has no time for Deacon, who is trying to figure out what is happening between him and Rayna. When Juliette won’t stop yelling at him and Rayna starts to pull away (because of what Teddy said about Maddie), Deacon walks out and quits on Juliette!
Juliette, in her drunken state, decides to still play the show and Avery steps up as lead guitarist. After her song, Juliette drinks even more and Avery, the least likely hero, helps her get in her car and get home safely. Aw!
In another part of town, Teddy manages to get Maddie to go to the father-daughter dance with her but she isn’t happy about it. It is totally awkward, as all dances are with your father at that age, but still cute. The two manage to make up and have a fun night–so sweet.
Back at the Edgehill party, Will is Scarlett’s date because Gunnar had to record his mystery song that night. Will is his crazy self and is working the room while Scarlett is being totally adorable and just enjoying the music.
Rayna on the other hand is lost after she performs her song. She doesn’t know what to do about Deacon so she just decides to head home. As her car is about to drive away Deacon hops in on the other side. He spills his heart to her and says he doesn’t care about her baggage or that she is clearly keeping something from him. He loves her and she loves him, which is all that matters. He is so perfect!
As the two lovebirds head back to Deacon’s place together we see them sing a beautiful duo together. They seal their song with a kiss and all is good in their world…at least for now.
In a switch to Scarlett, she arrives home and hears Gunnar’s new demo. It is different than all of his other music and she can tell. Later that night she stumbles upon his brother’s journal and confronts him about recording Jason’s song. He has nothing to say–uh-oh.
In the final moments of this week’s episode Juliette is passed out on the couch as her mother finally takes care of her for a change. She wakes up as her mom tucks her in and tries to give her water. Just then Juliette’s phone rings. It is Dante…he wants money and he has a blackmail tape!
Tune in next week to see what’s on the tape and what Juliette is going to do about it! Plus, will Rayna and Deacon last? Will he ever find out about Maddie being his daughter? Only time will tell!
