It was one of the movies that helped to define a generation and bring forth new life to the film industry. But for some reason people always want to talk about what was missing in the Back to the Future movies and what other possibilities could have come from using the famous DeLorean. Of course if you listened to Doc Brown you got the idea that messing with time was not as great of an idea as you might believe, which is easy to understand. Look at Morty after all, he was nearly erased from existence just because his parents had a chance at not having their first kiss. But what other questions need to be answered to finally satisfy the masses?
Here are a few just for consideration.
Why doesn’t the 2015 timeline change when Old Biff steals the DeLorean and goes back in time?
Didn’t catch that one did you? Well think about this, time isn’t standing still when Old Biff gives the almanac to his younger self. That means that as soon as Biff learns how to use the book the timeline should have changed, but Marty and Doc are still in the same future that Old Biff left. How is that possible? Maybe alternate universes open up when timelines are altered.
If Doc kept Marty’s letter about the terrorists why did he just wait to get shot?
For all he knew they could have shot him in the head and it would have been game over. For a guy this smart you would think that he had something prepared by that point. Plus, just wearing a bulletproof vest isn’t enough with an automatic machine gun. Doc wouldn’t have been bouncing back so quickly thanks to broken ribs and possible internal damage. I mean think about it, the gunner tagged him from a close up and personal distance.
Why aren’t there more Marty’s?
Look at it this way, Marty is going back to the past and coming back to the future, but in essence if he was taking himself from the time stream you would think that the loss of his presence would leave a gaping hole in the time continuum. Since it obviously doesn’t there must be a version of him at every single minute along the timeline. So why isn’t there another one of him in the future when he gets back and a couple of him at least when he goes to the past? That’s heavy.
Where did this sudden need to defend himself when being called a chicken come from?
He didn’t have it at all in the first film. If someone got in his face he did his best to handle the situation but he didn’t rise to the occasion just because someone called him a chicken. Did events between the first and second film somehow change that?
How did the DeLorean not explode or cause any more collateral damage when it was destroyed?
Remember it was totaled by a train? The train just kept going too without even a hint that it had leveled anything. And the DeLorean has a fusion reactor in it. A FUSION REACTOR. You would think the bang would be a little bigger, if not unfortunately fatal for anyone in the vicinity.
There are a lot of other questions out there and there should be. This movie was great but it left a LOT of plot holes.
