I miss Andy Dick. I know that he’s around and he’s still doing stuff. In fact I even heard his voice as recently as yesterday when my son was watching his children’s show The Lion Guard. I just wish he was a bit more prominent than he is. Don’t get me wrong. Andy Dick has 146 acting credits in IMDB and he’s still only 51 years old, so it’s not like he’s not busy. But I just miss him from around 1990-2000 which I think were his peak years. I almost relate Andy Dick to Tom Green in a roundabout kind of way. Both extremely weird characters on screen and in real life. They stretch the limits of comedy and as well as the comfort level of audiences. Funny that they should appear together in Road Trip which is what I’m sharing with you today.
While my favorite role of Andy Dick would have to be the guy he played in Old School, a not too distant second his is motel clerk character in Road Trip. His appearance alone makes me laugh but his amazingly calm demeanor and dialogue simply tops it. The only part I didn’t like is when Fred Ward came in and strong armed him. It was annoying to see that character in a struggle. It was his smooth delivery to the fellas and his distaste for them all while drawing a brutal picture of a forest that made this scene so brilliant.
