The last few months have been difficult for former The OC star Mischa Barton. You might recall that back in January Barton was taken to the hospital after an incident that saw her screaming and falling off a fence at her residence in California. The incident was the result of a birthday celebration gone bad in which Barton was reportedly drugged which resulted in her erratic behavior. Thankfully the actress was eventually sent home and was OK. But now Mischa Barton is caught up in another public story that involves a sex tape of she and a former boyfriend.
Daily Mail reports that the tape is currently up for bids, with a base price of $500,000. Reportedly, the video, where Mischa can be seen having sex with a dark haired man, is an act of revenge pornography. The actor’s attorney, Lisa Bloom, took to Twitter to release her statement. “Ms. Barton does not consent to any disclosure of any such images. She believes that she was recorded without her consent by someone she was seeing at the time,” it read. The statement also revealed that Mischa would be taking legal action: “There’s a name for this disgusting conduct: revenge pornography. Revenge pornography is a form of sexual assault, and it is also a crime and a civil wrong in California. And we will not stand for it.”
In today’s day and age especially considering the recent $100 million Gawker lawsuit and ruling with Hulk Hogan, the person who is shopping around this tape may need to think long and hard about this one.
