With five nominations at the 96th Academy Awards, Anatomy of a Fall has introduced Milo Machado-Graner to a global audience. He stars in the French legal drama alongside Sandra Hüller, Swann Arlaud, Antoine Reinartz, and Samuel Theis. Machado-Graner plays Daniel Maleski, the half-blind son of a writer suspected of murder following her spouse’s death. As the main witness in the trial, Daniel confronts a moral dilemma that showcases the depth of Machado-Graner’s talent.
Milo Machado-Graner’s performance in the film released to critical acclaim earned him multiple nominations for coveted awards. He didn’t get a nod from the Oscars like his costar Sandra Hüller. However, he won the 2024 OFTA and Seattle Film Critics Society Awards for Best Youth Performance. He also won the 2023 VHS Awards for Best Supporting Actor. Anatomy of a Fall has taken Machado-Graner’s career to a new height, but it’s only the beginning for the young performer.
Milo Machado-Graner Is A French Actor Of Portuguese Descent
The Anatomy of a Fall actor was born on August 31, 2008. He keeps a low profile because of his age and the need to safeguard his childhood from the overwhelming pressure of public attention. The restriction on media exposure has helped him maintain a decent level of privacy despite his increasing fame. On the flip side, it has left fans of the up-and-coming performer with questions about his personal life. For instance, due to his convincing performance on Anatomy of a Fall, it’s been wondered if Machado-Graner is visually impaired in real life — he’s not.
The actor attributes his compelling portrayal of a half-blind lad to the blind people in his family. And of course, the help he received from experts in visual impairment while preparing for the role. Milo Machado-Graner isn’t the only member of his family involved in show business. His mother, Susan Machado, is a set decorator and a bit of an actress. A Parisian artist originally from Famalicão, Portugal, Milo’s mom worked as an assistant art director on Arsène Lupin (2004).
Earlier in 1990, she played Lázaro’s Girlfriend in João Canijo’s Lovely Child. Her most recent work was as a set decorator in Delphine Lanson’s short comedy film The Nulliparous. It’s fair to assume Milo Machado-Graner’s mom inspired his interest in acting. This is also true for his younger brother, Solan Machado Graner.
He’s The Older Brother Of ‘Waiting for Bojangles’ Star Solan Machado Graner
Apart from his mother, Milo Machado-Graner’s younger brother also works in entertainment as an actor. Solan Machado Graner stumbled upon the profession when he accompanied Milo to an audition for a small part in Régis Roinsard’s romance dramedy Waiting for Bojangles. Milo had auditioned for a main part in the film, but the director told him he was too old for the role, opting to cast him for a small part as Alexandre.
Seeing Milo with his younger brother, the director resolved to cast Solan for the original role intended for his brother. This marked the beginning of the younger Machado Graner’s career. He starred as Gary Fouquet in the 2021 movie alongside Romain Duris, Virginie Efira, and Grégory Gadebois. The following year, Solan Machado Graner played Damien in four episodes of What Pauline Is Not Telling You, a mini-series created by Julien Capron. Most recently, he played Théo in Myriam Vinocour’s 2023 telefilm À l’Instinct.

The Anatomy of a Fall actor was only 13 when he debuted in 2021.
Also in 2021, he appeared as Alexandre in Waiting for Bojangles. The actor gained more recognition with his performance as Basile in Netflix’s Stuck Together before the year ran out. He went on to play Tristan Melino in an episode of Alex Hugo (2022) and Léo in Anne Giafferi’s Thank God We Have Each Other (2022).
