It can’t be helped but to say that someone like Miles Joris-Peyrafitte is likely well-known in certain circles but not so universally known that people would be speaking his name every other day due to his accomplishments. In other words he’s not exactly mainstream but he’s built a reputation and a career for himself that’s at least somewhat impressive and is capable of making eyebrows raise and people nod in agreement that he has done something worthwhile. Thus far in his career he’s been working pretty steadily and everything seems to be on the uptick, especially now since it seems he’s been attached to a project that a lot of people might not expect but will undoubtedly be able to get some attention if the right stars are attached to it. One has to wonder though if this movie will allow him to be seen as more mainstream and possibly shine the spotlight on him just a bit more.
Here are a few things about Miles you might not have known.
10. He’s earned a couple of nominations during his career thus far.
So honestly he has been noticed and he has done well enough that people think he’s worth an award or two. Winning is a different matter altogether since for some people it dulls their creative edge and keeps them from advancing since they’ve already been to the top of the mountain and don’t feel the need to do it again. Being nominated is quite different since it means one almost got there but was just edge out.
9. Miles is an actor and a director.
He’s been featured in movies and he’s directed them so he knows both sides of the camera which is a valuable skill set to have. Too many actors tend to think that they can direct but somehow falter once they get behind the camera, even if they’re geniuses when they’re in front of it. Miles can do both thankfully.
8. His reputation on social media is still building.
He does have several thousand followers at this point but that almost feels as though it’s a matter of exposure and not popularity since social media, no matter how important some people think it is, happens to be an amplified word of mouth type of deal in that it can reach further and quicker than most anything. The trouble with it though is gauging popularity by the number of followers one has, which is extremely hard to do.
7. It sounds as though he’ll be directing the next Tank Girl movie.
Jeff Sneider of Collider was just one of many to make this announcement. This could propel him just a bit further into the public eye since Tank Girl was something of a misfit movie back in the 90s but seems to be gaining some attention already since Margot Robbie is thought to be taking the titular spot. Whether she does or not however it could be that this movie will finally be introduced in a way that will allow it to stick around for a while.
6. In a way it seems as though he likes to use a lot of play between shadows and light in his work.
A lot of directors tend to do this in one way or another and a lot of them either fail horribly or master it in a way that elevates the movie in the eyes of the audience. So far it would seem that Miles is pretty good at it since the pictures and movies he’s pushed tend to have a very interesting look when it comes to the shading and lighting that goes on.
5. He might be a dog person.
This is a guess mostly thanks to his Instagram photos, but normally when you see a dog and no cat in evidence a person might be disposed towards one rather than the other. Like I said it’s a guess, but it usually does tend to pan out.
4. Miles appears to have a very unique style.
You could call him ‘artsy’ since his style is something that doesn’t seem too hardcore and yet at the same time doesn’t seem insanely flowery and full of prose that only a select number of people would understand. His works definitely need those that get what he’s trying to say to interpret at times but otherwise he’s quite good at his craft.

There is something about the average landscape that draws the eye if one is to be honest. When looking into the distance it’s hard not to notice certain elements of a landscape that seem to demand your attention.

This would indicate that he’s come quite a ways in his career but he’s not so far up the ladder yet as to be worth the millions that many other established directors have earned.
