How To Make some of the Food From “Breaking Bad”

And we’re back to binging with Babish in an attempt to make some of the food from Breaking Bad. At least this time it’s edible unlike the Simpsons episode. You can say one thing about Babish, he’s never boring when it comes to cooking. So while he puts away the sheet pan of ‘meth’ he then goes into making breadsticks, which look so extremely tempting that you might be wanting to go and make your own while watching this video. In this wonderful age of technology you might even be able to do this if you have a tablet or a TV in the kitchen area that can let you stream YouTube. Isn’t technology great? Babish is definitely fun to watch and the recipes he comes up with are just too great to be denied.

Next up is a seafood stew that makes use of a lot of salt, a lot of cilantro, and some truly yummy seafood that looks pretty fresh and should be great when added together in a delectable stew. The one thing you want to watch out for with shellfish however is that they do open when you put them in to boil. Any shellfish that don’t open, you don’t want. The idea is that any clam that doesn’t open is already dead and might have been so for a while. The last thing you want on your tongue or in your belly is an already-rotting clam that could seriously mess up your system. Too many clams consumed all at once can be a problem for some people because of what’s in them, but eating something when you don’t know how long it’s been dead could cause a real problem. Of course the real truth is that the muscles controlling the opening and closing the shell could have tightened instead of loosened due to the heat, so you could pry them open and give them a smell. If you smell any kind of rot or something that doesn’t seem right then it’s advised to leave them alone.

Moving on from there is dessert, which of course in true Babish style holds true to the hilarity of his show. The blue ‘meth’ that he put away earlier is in fact just a sugary concoction with blue food coloring and some flavoring that makes it a little more delectable to those that decide to give it a try. One thing you might want to warn people about however is that since it is crystallized sugar for the most part it could have very sharp edges when it’s broken. So as good as this all looks, and it does look VERY good, do take care if you make the crystal at the end because it could leave lacerations to those that aren’t aware and try to chomp on it after hearing that it’s candy. Otherwise cook it up and enjoy.

Honestly I’ve had a lot of fun watching Babish so often and writing on his meals is something of a treat. I might even try making a few of the recipes he uses.
