Lucifer is on the hunt to get back his stolen wings while helping Detective Decker solve her Palmetto Case once and for all, with some help from Detective Dan, in this week’s adrenaline-filled episode of Lucifer.
The episode began with Maze luring a man upstairs to the penthouse, assuming to indulge in a carnal activity in the hot tub, but instead, the demon bartender submerged the man’s head in the water as Lucifer came and proceeded to interrogate the man about the location of his wings. It was clear that the drowning method is not working out too well as the man didn’t know where Lucifer’s wings are. This led our favorite Devil to realize that he might be going about his search in the wrong way and decided to ask Detective Decker for help. Way to have an epiphany in the middle of your little hot tub interrogation stunt, Lucifer.
When Lucifer came in through Detective Decker’s front door, I half expected him to have some sort of snarky remark to say to the detective as she concentrates on the Palmetto Case or yell out “Detective!” loud enough to scare her out of her wits, but I digress. Detective Decker’s comment about Lucifer’s wings being man-made was hilarious as she thought that the former Prince of Darkness’s precious wings are related to cosplay. Somehow I doubt that Lucifer takes part in cosplay, though it’s not difficult to imagine him in his angelic form with his wings stretched out for all to see. I also have to admire Detective Decker’s relentless determination to find out the truth about the Palmetto Case so that she can stop being viewed as the one person who doesn’t view the cop that got shot as a hero.
I’m also surprised that Lucifer would turn to Amenadiel for help in getting his wings back, but I figured that the archangel would still help his little brother out despite telling Lucifer to deal with his problem himself. The things you do for family, right? I’m equally surprised that Amenadiel doesn’t know that Lucifer is slowly becoming mortal after he got himself shot at by Detective Decker (his own fault, obviously) when the archangel dared the auctioneer to shoot at the both of them. Thought angels knew everything, guess not.
While I’m watching this episode with as much enthusiasm as the next devoted fan, I was a bit confused when Lucifer showed up at the auctioneer’s house and got his wings back. How did Lucifer know where the auctioneer lived? Detective Decker didn’t help him and neither did Amenadiel so how in the world did he do it? Or maybe he looked it up on Google like everyone else?
When Amenadiel asked Lucifer if the latter wanted to chase after Detective Decker as she stormed out of the auction room, perhaps asking dear old Dad for a little rain to make it a moment, I really wanted him to do it just to see the look on both Lucifer and Detective Decker’s faces when they’re standing in a downpour like in The Notebook. It was a bit of a relief to see these two brothers act civil towards one another for once, like how they mocked the lost chains of St. Paul, instead of always being at each other’s necks like Thor and Loki. Then again, Amenadiel taunted Lucifer with the whole “I’ll just wait till someone shoots you and you’ll go back to Hell again.” comment after Lucifer told his brother that he can bleed now.
In my last review, I said that Amenadiel was the one who took Lucifer’s wings to use as leverage to convince Lucifer to go back to Hell. Turns out I was right. The archangel was the one who tipped the auctioneer off about the wings and he helped Lucifer in order to achieve his goal, but Lucifer wouldn’t have it as he flicked the cigarette that he had been smoking behind him and set his wings (the real ones, not the fake ones at the auction) ablaze much to the shock and dismay of Amenadiel to the point where the archangel took out his rage on Lucifer, punching him in the face over and over till Lucifer bled from his mouth and has a black eye. Lucifer bloody Morningstar, you went and done it this time. Hope you can live with your decision to stay on Earth because that brother of yours isn’t going to give up until he gets you back to Hell.
I really love watching this show. The interaction between Lucifer and Detective Decker at Lux was a tender moment as the detective acknowledged Lucifer as a friend and the part where Lucifer’s wings were behind him on the wall of the auctioneer’s house was as if they were reattached like Maleficent’s was glorious. The final scene of the episode made my eyes go wide in shock and confusion as Amenadiel brought Officer Malcolm back to life after being pulled off of life support which begs the question, was the archangel somehow responsible for taking the officer’s life as part of his plot to get Lucifer to go back to Hell or was it his way of retribution after all that’s happened? Either way, it’s definitely something to think about as we wait with as much patience as we can muster for the next episode.

Dan is the one who shot Malcom, by bringing Malcolm back, Amenadiel is able to screw up Lucifer and Chole getting together. Just my theory. :o)
Hmm…that’s an interesting theory about Dan. If it’s true, then he’s got some explaining to do. I’m especially intrigued with the part where Amenadiel brings Malcolm back to screw up Lucifer and Chloe’s potential relationship. Guess we’ll find out on Monday lol.
