Little Girl Is Dragged Underwater By Sea Lion at Steveston Fisherman’s Wharf in Canada

You can cross “feeding animals” off my list of things to do for the rest of my life.   No matter how many times incidents like these happen and no matter how many times we may think that animals are “just like us” we have to recognize the fact that they are animals and not humans.  It’s why jobs like taming lions and training bears are completely ludicrous.   While it’s amazing to bond with animals of these size, a trainer has to understand that at literally any time in the process these animals can completely snap and end their lives.   It’s nature folks.  The sooner we understand that the better.

It doesn’t mean that I’m calling for an end to these jobs and interacting with animals but I will say that these jobs and interacting with animals should be left to professionals only.  Case in point?  This family who has having just another “normal” day in Canada when things turned completely south.

A terrifying video shows a sea lion grabbing the little girl and dragging her into water — all this horror happening in just a blink of an eye! The video was taken by Michael Fujiwara from Vancouver. He said: “I was just sitting by the dock and then this sea lion popped its head out of the water just in front of me. I just took out my cell phone and started filming.”

“The sea lion actually attracted a lot of attention from the visitors there, including the young girl… She and her family, I guess, they came, they started feeding the animal bread crumbs or whatever it was, and then I guess the animal got a little too comfortable.”

The girl was saved by a brave man who is thought to be her relative. Clearly, both the girl and the savior felt traumatized by the experience.  Check out the video below:
