“Good morning, Vietnam!” is what the late Robin Williams would say in the film Good Morning, Vietnam. On tonight’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow, there’s nothing good about it. The teams head into the peak of the war and come across none other than Grodd. Oh, and Mick runs into his father, but it’s not exactly a family reunion.
It was interesting to see Daddy Rory act so similarly to Mick. They talk in the same gruffy voice, and their mannerisms are so alike it’s like they are twins. I guess the saying’s right. Like father, like son. Mick then told Nate that he didn’t regret killing his old man. He later regretted it as his father opened up to him about what he’s planning to do once he returned home. I applaud the guy for talking sense into his father before specific events get set in stone. Maybe this will alter Heatwave’s future, and he won’t have to resort to killing his family with arson.
I also applaud Amaya for trying to reason with Grodd. She offered to bring the gorilla somewhere where there are no humans. He could live in peace without worrying about cages and experiments. The moment didn’t last for long when Sergeant Rory and his men crashed the party. When Grodd attempted to steal the Waverider through controlling Sara, I thought that things would go from bad to worse. Kudos to Benjamin Franklin for knocking the captain out cold before the latter attacked Professor Stein.
Speaking of the professor, I can’t believe that he recruited Franklin, Galileo, and Madam Curie to help figure out how to split up Firestorm. I guess that even the smartest people need help figuring out a solution to a problem. I do hope that they all got home in one piece. The Legends have more anachronisms to deal with. They don’t need three more.
Back to the Grodd situation, I want to believe that he wants to help the humans find peace. However, after all the things that he has done, which includes starting World War III, makes me not want to believe him. The meeting with him and Damien Darhk worries me. I have a sinking feeling that Darhk will somehow get Grodd on his side in his revenge plan against the Legends.
Final Thoughts:
I loved Nate’s movie references throughout this episode. I’m still snickering at the whole “Agent Schwartzeneggar” comment. Sure, give them your real name but make up fake names for everyone else! Good job, Dr. Heywood!
I can’t believe that President Johnson gave Jax the coveted pie recipe of his wife’s famous pecan pie. Jax said that it’s nothing like his mother’s pecan pie, but hey, pie’s good no matter who makes it.
Also can’t believe that Mick let slip that Zari took Helen of Troy to Themyscira. You and your big mouth, Rory! At least the timeline’s not affected, so it’s all good on the Helen front.
