On this week’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kris must face her mother’s illness and Kourtney considers an at home water birth.
The sisters contact their maternal grandmother MJ who they suspect is not well. They decide to visit her in San Diego and urge Kris to come with them. Kris has work excuses, but in reality she’s afraid to deal with a situation that she can’t help. The girls persist and convince her to go. Kris and her daughters set off for San Diego. Walking through the house she grew up in, Kris is overwhelmed by memories. She realizes how time goes by so fast and knows she needs to make more time for her mother. Kris breaks down in tears in front of Khloe and Robert because she knows her mother won’t be around forever. Out sightseeing the next day, Kris tells MJ she will make more time to spend with her.
While Kourtney has a mold made of her pregnant belly, she hears of a water birth. She wants to explore options so she decides to check it out. A group of midwives come to her home to give her all the information of a home birth, which includes no pain killers. Scott is freaked out by all of it at first but then warms to the idea when realizes babies were born in caves hundreds of years ago. Her sisters think she’s crazy. They feel it would be traumatizing for Mason to hear her scream in pain and overall, it’s just not safe. Kourtney is invited to watch a labor birth and tells Khloe to come with her. Khloe thinks she’s nuts but agrees to go.
Bruce continually disturbs Kris with his restlessness sleeping. When Kris wakes up injured one morning, she tells him his nocturnal behavior is not normal. His son Brandon recommends seeing a sleep disorder specialist. While Kris is away, Bruce checks into a sleep clinic for a night. When they stick a bunch of electrodes all over his body he thinks the whole thing is ridiculous. The next day Bruce learns that he is making a lot of physical movements with his left arm in his sleep that are carried over his daytime activity. He tells Kris about it to show her he cares enough about sleeping in the same bed with her to address his problem. Bruce comes to bed with a sling on his left arm which makes Kris laugh.
Kourtney and Khloe visit the woman who is about to have a home water birth. Khloe is really uncomfortable being this involved with a stranger at a time like this. There’s a giant inflatable tub in the living room. When the woman gets in the tub, Khloe doesn’t know what to do with herself. She cleans the kitchen while Kourtney is front and center watching this woman groan in pain. Finally the baby is born and all is well. Kourtney sheds a tear, but realizes she doesn’t want to have a home birth after all. She remembers her peaceful birth with Mason in a hospital and doesn’t want to have it any other way.
On the next Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kris wants to pre-plan her own funeral. The next episode airs in two weeks on Sunday, August 19 at 9 p.m. (ET) on E!
