Katie Couric is the kind of person it would seem that would gladly treat her friend Jimmy Kimmel to his his surprise first colonoscopy right after he turns 50 years old. Thankfully it didn’t seem to go that bad since he was knocked out. No man really wants to do this however since it simply sounds like something so invasive and disturbing that it would turn a lot of men off. The trick however is that it is something that men should be doing when they turn 50 as it’s a lot better than being diagnosed with colon cancer. Sometimes in life we have to do things that aren’t all that pleasant in order to know that we’re okay.
You could tell Jimmy wasn’t all that psyched since he had to be ready to go at 5:30 in the morning and then had to be prepped for it with Couric standing there at his side. At least she’s a good enough friend that she was able to alleviate the situation with some humor, but the shots of his colon seemed like they were a bit over the top, and the cartoon noises were a bit much too. Of course it made it all the more funny since otherwise this is kind of a personal procedure that you really wouldn’t want to know about most times unless you happen to be the man it’s happening to. Think about it, a tiny camera is going up your butt to see what kind of things are going on with your inner workings to make sure that everything’s okay, and in this case everyone that watches Kimmel’s show is going to get to see it. At least he’s comfortable with it in the name of humor.
As people get older however their bodies do continue to change, break down, and in some cases don’t function as well as they used to. This is why at certain ages it is recommended for men and women to go get regular checkups in order to make certain that things still look okay or need to be addressed so that they don’t get any worse. Ignoring regular visits to the doctor can be disastrous, especially if you start to feel things on the inside aren’t going right and need to be looked at. Some people don’t believe in doctors, others don’t go because they’re afraid, and some just don’t go because they’re lazy. This is one of those aspects of life however that doesn’t just get better if you eat right or continue to live a healthy life. The human body continues to change with age and in order to know that everything is going the way it should it’s important to really keep up on regular doctor visits so that if anything does occur it can be addressed then and there.
Kimmel was a good sport at least, though when Couric brings in the items that they supposedly found while they were exploring the pathway to his colon it was enough to laugh when he started playing the harmonica.
