She seems like she’d have the chops to do a serious part. Kate McKinnon is a very funny woman and she has the talent to make people laugh uproariously. But one of these days it wouldn’t be too unlikely to see her standing at the podium accepting an Oscar rather than announcing someone. Seriously, she’s got the acting chops to pull off a serious role just as much as she does a comedic one. Despite how many people think that the most recent Ghostbusters was ruined by switching up the cast, there was one scene in particular when McKinnon managed to shine brighter than the rest of them.

She’s a brilliant actress that might have been place into a few questionable roles but she’s made the best of it and did very well since she was one of the best parts of the entire Ghostbusters movie. Not that this is saying much but she did make her parts enjoyable as she was funny and engaging and didn’t feel the need to crowd anyone out it seems. But when it comes to serious acting she just needs the chance to show that she can put that charm on lock and keep the funny at bay for as long as she needs. There’s a lot of faith that she could pull off a performance that’s worthy of gold and can make certain that she’s known for being more than a comedian, and more than an actor. Kate is someone that could be just about legendary if she’s given the right push and the opportunity to prove her talents on the big screen. No matter what anyone says she’s been doing it already and needs to keep getting the chance to continue this.
Any doubts about her talent are not well-founded since she’s been given the chance to be a comic genius more than anything but hasn’t yet really had the chance to do anything else that’s worthy of note. She does have a couple of projects coming up but it’s safe to say that people are going to use her to be funny for a while until she breaks out of that particular box and decides to do something else. Her facial features are expressive enough that she can affect pretty much any mood she needs, but thanks to her acting in movies and on SNL she’s been kind of typecast to date as a funny woman without any real chance of showing just what else she can do. That needs to change obviously so that she can ascend those stairs sometime in the future to accept her own golden little man for a job well done.
It might not happen for a while but it’s nice to dream since Kate McKinnon is a fun personality to watch and to think might be worth granting such a prestigious award to based on her merit alone. She has the kind of acting chops that are needed to win the award, and if given half the chance should be able to show as much.
