Despite the fact that FOX cancelled John Stamos’ comedy Grandfathered last month, the actor will be returning to the network this fall. Instead of headlining another new show, though, Stamos will be joining the cast of an already established one, taking on a series-regular role in Scream Queens Season 2.
As revealed by FOX on Thursday, Stamos has been cast in the second season of Scream Queens as Dr. Brock Holt, the “brilliant, but secretive, head surgeon” at the hospital in which this season of the comedy-horror series is set. Per FOX’s description, Scream Queens Season 2 takes place “in a hospital, where some of the most fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation” and “a terrifyingly funny mystery will begin once again.”
Stamos’ Scream Queens role will be a reunion of sorts between him and Ryan Murphy, who created and executive-produces the show alongside Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Stamos previously worked with Murphy before on Glee and The New Normal; he had guest-starring roles in both shows. He joins a Screams Queens cast that will feature returning stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Glen Powell, and Niecy Nash, who will all be reprising their Season 1 characters.
Scream Queens Season 2 kicks off on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 9 p.m. on FOX.
