Jimmy Paige on Led Zeppelin Future: “There’s More to Come”

During an interview with Planet Rock at MusicWeek, guitarist Jimmy Page revealed what is next for Led Zeppelin. He even revealed that there is a new live album set for release at some point in the future.

Although he was unwilling to give too much away, he was willing to say that they are releasing a new multi-track album. Page also said that it is completely different from other things that are out at the moment and from their previous work, such as ‘The Song Remains the Same’ or ‘How the West Won’. The guitarist is excited about fans hearing their new album. He went on to tell the interviewer that they have a number of new releases coming out and that they may be releasing new material for as long as another decade.

Page also discussed the chances of the group reconvening to do another Led Zeppelin concert. Unfortunately, the musician thinks that this is highly unlikely to happen. He said it was time that they faced facts as it is now more than ten years since they reconvened for the 02 show which was the last time they managed to perform at a major concert. In his opinion, the time has gone and he thinks the chances of it happening again are slim to none. This is probably not surprising news to fans of Led Zeppelin who are likely to already realize their favorite rock band is unlikely to perform together again.

There is currently a Led Zeppelin photo book being created and this is set for release in October. Jimmy Page had nothing but praise for this and was happy to discuss it during the interview. He is delighted that he and the other members of Led Zeppelin are working on the photo book collectively. He knows many other people who are having a similar type of book released at the moment. Page believes that what makes theirs stand out from some of the others is that all the band members are contributing to the publication. This is not the case for many of the others who are releasing similar books as they are simply being ripped off by publishing companies. He feels the involvement of himself and his bandmates makes their photo book more authoritative.

The rock band Led Zeppelin was originally formed in 1968 and consists of Page on the guitar, Robert Plant on lead vocals, John Bonham on drums, and John Paul Jones on bass and keyboard. They became known as one of the progenitors of heavy metal. They were originally called the New Yardbirds before changing their names and signing to Atlantic Records.

This group has achieved a massive level of success and it is estimated that they have sold close to 300 million records worldwide and have had eight consecutive UK number one albums. ‘Stairway to Heaven’ is one of their best-known songs and was featured on their fourth album. This track is widely considered one of the most influential tracks in the history of rock music. Led Zeppelin was collaboratively inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.
