To say that things have been bleak for Jim Carrey ever since his girlfriend Cathriona White committed suicide would be an understatement. While the comedian’s career hasn’t been at its peak since the mid to late 90s, Carrey was still picking up roles and in a reasonably “happy” place or so it would seem. But everything seems to have come crumbling down when White committed suicide as a result of overdosing on prescription drugs. These drugs however, were supplied by Carrey, according to White’s family.
White’s family is now suing Carrey claiming the Hollywood actor was complicit in the 30-year-old make up artist’s death. Today, Los Angeles Superior Court judge Deirdre Hill suggested they will not be throwing out the case against Carrey, despite his lawyer, Raymond Boucher, filing a motion to dismiss it. The attorney said:
Mr Carrey loved Ms White dearly and so obviously it will be a very painful process for him.
The civil suit also alleges Carrey had given White three sexually transmitted diseases — gonorrhea, Herpes 1 and Herpes 2 — and was pressuring her to keep them quiet. As if things couldn’t be worse for Carrey, this trial is only going to perpetuate the doldrums he’s in. To add insult to injury……
Documents filed in the court complaint also contain written evidence from White herself that state she felt ‘disrespected, degraded, called a whore, an opportunist, threatened’ and was made to feel like an ‘ungrateful bitch’ and ‘damaged goods’ by Carrey.
This is not going to be a good year for Jim Carrey folks.
