Jaimie Alexander is an actress who has worked in both film and television. The American actress stars in the NBC series ‘Blindspot’ playing the dual roles of Jane Doe and Remi Briggs. The crime drama series was first aired in 2015 and the fourth season began in October 2018. Alexander’s roles in this series are the two very different personas of one character. In recent interviews, she has spoken of the many challenges of playing the two roles in ‘Blindspot’.
Alexandra said that season four has stood out as her most challenging because she has played the two roles in this season. She described it as a very intense and emotionally draining experience but has also said that it has been a tremendous opportunity. While playing both Jane and Remi has taken its toll on her, Alexander has had lots of fun and there were some surprises for her along the way. For example, she didn’t know until filming began the path that the season would take and that her character would remember her past.
Despite having fun and enjoying playing dual roles, she has faced lots of challenges along the way. She has had to play two different personalities and each of her characters has their own set of lines. This meant that Alexander had two lots of dialogue to learn and lots of technical details for her to get right. Also, there were two lots of stunts, so the whole season was extremely tiring for her. Another aspect of filming the series that Jaimie Alexander found difficult was the lighting they used on set. Half the set was lit with red lights and, when she went outside, Alexander found the natural light blinding. The actress also found this season particularly tiring compared to previous seasons and commented that she got very little sleep during filming.
Alexander also got very little downtime between filming season four of ‘Blindspot’. When she wasn’t on set, she would either goof around or make food and coffees for her co-stars and the crew. Although filming season four has been demanding for Jaimie Alexander, it has made her appreciate how lucky she is as an actress to have steady work as this is in direct contrast to her early years trying to make it as an actress. She had moved to Los Angeles and couldn’t return to the area where she grew up.
Therefore, she had no choice but to keep trying to make it, even when she faced constant rejection. She found the lack of money the most difficult aspect of this time of her life. Alexander always kept it in the back of her mind that she would make it as an actress one day if she just kept trying and, thankfully, she was right. When asked what advice she would give to others in a similar situation, she said that she would tell them never to give up. Alexander says that those trying to make it in the entertainment business should stay true to themselves and follow their gut instinct about what is right for them.
Although the focus of most of Alexander’s recent interviews has been about playing dual roles in ‘Blindspot’, she has been just as happy to answer questions on other topics. She has even been asked what she finds romantic. In response, Alexander said she thinks it is the little things that are the most romantic, such as spending time doing things together or enjoying a nice meal. She also believes that technology needs taking out of the equation for romance and that a handwritten letter is far more romantic than a text.
Since landing the lead role in ‘Blindspot’ in 2015, it hasn’t stopped Jaimie Alexander from working on projects. Therefore, she has had a busy schedule in recent years. In her television career, she has enjoyed a recurring role in ‘The Brink’ and has appeared as herself on ‘Talking with Chris Hardwick’ and ‘Ridiculousness’. She has also played Tara Bloom in the 2016 film ‘Broken Vows’ and Hope Clinch in the 2018 ‘London Fields’.
This level of success is likely to continue for the talented actress as she is now well-known, thanks to her various roles in both film and television. Her talent was recognized at the 10th Action Icon Awards in 2017 when she won an Action Iconic Award for her role in ‘Blindspot’.
