Ilfenesh Hadera might not be someone you know all that much about either because of her name or because she hasn’t shown up on a lot of mainstream projects that you can recall. Of course that’s subjective since while her name might be hard to remember, or not, she makes an impression. If you’ve seen her once then chances are good that you’d remember her and be able to point her out wherever she pops up. She has had a pretty successful career so far and has been seen on TV shows and in movies so it’s not like she’s a newbie to the scene. But how long she’s been here is kind of up for people to decide when they see since obviously she hasn’t established enough of a presence quite yet to be widely known like some of her costars. But she’s still fairly young so give her time.
Here are some things you might not have known about her.
10. She was in the new Baywatch movie.
A lot of people seemed to have had an issue with this movie, citing that it didn’t follow the show enough or that it was too this or that. Honestly it was an insanely funny movie and followed the show as closely as it needed to. It was on the beach with a bunch of hot people in tight swimsuits, ’nuff said.
9. She studied acting at the Harlem School of Arts.
She has formal training so there’s no wondering just where she got her skills. She’s been through the steps and gone through the process and has become a tried and true actor in her own right.
8. She lives in her childhood home.
Not everyone can say this because let’s be honest, people move at least a few times in their lives and aren’t bound to come home unless the place is still there, and even then it might just be for a visit.
7. She was a waitress for ten years.
Put your hands up if you know what this is like. This is what she was doing before she got her big break so she knows just what it’s like to spend days and weeks wondering and waiting and hoping that you’re day will come.
6. She was in Billions.
This show is something else when you really get into what it’s all about. Those that are tearing at each other are some of the richest people in the world but at the same time they seem to be some of the most unhappiest people on earth as well. You have to wonder just how having billions could make you so miserable.
5. She lived with her parents until she was 30.
There’s not a lot of shame in this if a person is working and can’t afford their own place or if they help out around the home. A lot of people in their 20s to 30s are going back home simply because it’s too hard to make a living and earn a decent wage.
4. She’s in The Punisher.
She must have gone uncredited since finding her name is hard to do but it’s all too obvious that it’s her in this clip since her looks are very distinctive. What she’s doing, or rather, having her dinner guest do however is kind of odd. But then if you’ve read the Punisher comics and watched the show then you might not think so, at least not as much.
3. She’s into working out.
Anything she can do in an hour she’s into, even if it means cramming a workout in. She likes to stay in shape obviously as she’s got quite the figure. For Baywatch this was possibly one thing that helped to land her the role. Her acting ability and good looks helped as well no doubt.
2. She almost became a DJ.
It was more of a backup plan than anything if acting didn’t work out, since she learned that good DJ’s can make upwards of a thousand dollars a night. The only downfall is that you have to be good enough to make that kind of money and DJ-ing is a very competitive job in some cities and almost nonexistent in others.
1. She’s pretty popular on social media.
She hasn’t reached the million mark when it comes to followers yet, but she’s in the hundreds of thousands at least and it looks to be climbing. Whether she’s big on social media or not there are enough people that want to see what she’s doing and might be doing that will log in and pay attention. So far she’s still a rising star but at the moment she’s still a hot commodity in the business.
She’s actually kind of pumped to do a Baywatch sequel, but there’s no word yet on if this is a possibility at all.
