I’ve never heard Indian Jones effects put into house music before, now I can cross that one off the bucket list I suppose. Listening to it though you would almost think that some of those beats you might want to lengthen and let them develop for a moment before keeping the mix going. But then I’m not a DJ and definitely not that schooled in house music so my word is worth less than most at this point.
It’s fun to listen to though, and very impressive that someone would be able to isolate those many different sounds and noises and then put them into a cohesive unit. It takes a real passion for music and a very educated ear to hear all that and decide which piece to put where. Of course it could be a good idea that’s more of a hodgepodge of sounds that gets sorted out then remixed and then reworked again and again to get it right. I get the feeling it’s a blend of both really.
Music of any sort takes a talented mind and ear to get it right, and something like this takes time as well. For starters you need the movie and the equipment necessary to isolate the clips and the distinct scenes. Figuring out just what to use still impresses me enough that it bears talking about a little more. Thinking of what sounds go together isn’t too hard, but trying to find the right moments from each movie and then figuring out how to put them all together is amazing. It’s almost like piecing together a symphony from a few random notes and making the whole thing play out in one long, unbroken chain from start to finish.
It’s a good thing that certain actions and scenes were dubbed for sound though, otherwise the effects of the song wouldn’t have as much of an impact. For instance, punches don’t sound like that. If you’ve ever hit someone or been hit and noted the sound, I know it’s not the first thing you think to do, then you would notice that it delivers less of a solid impact noise and more of a dull packing sound. And not all snakes hiss like that, but obviously these ones did or the dubbing made it possible for them to.
Overall it is an impressive effect and it deserves a lot of respect. Whoever did this is very talented and should hopefully be out spinning at a club somewhere giving the people what they want to hear. There’s no reason to hide talent like this, it needs to be let out and left to run.
That kind of makes me wonder if maybe this song has already hit the clubs and been used without anybody knowing about it. It seems likely really, but there’s no way of really knowing unless someone decides to come forward and say so. There’s so many house music songs out there however that unless you know how to distinguish one artist from the other it might be impossible to really know.
