Normally I’m not a big fan of Adam Ruins Everything but this time it makes a good deal of sense and not just because it flies in the face of those people who believe that the moon landing was faked. This kind of shoots down that idea like a heat-seeking missile since there are so many different things that would have had to exist back then that didn’t. And yet the argument for the faked moon landing goes on and on as people that don’t even know that much about will side with those who say that our government created a massive conspiracy to make it seem as though the USA was the first to land on the moon.
Oy, it’s enough to give a person a headache. The overwhelming amount of evidence that stands in favor of the moon landing being real is seen in the lack of technological advances back in the 60’s that would have made the production of a faked moon landing virtually impossible. The lighting alone explains it since the source of the light in the photos that are shown is akin to being backlit by a giant TV screen. The result is that the shadows of everything in the picture are moving parallel to one another and are projecting straight out from their source.
Also, the mere fact that there was no such lighting system that could replicate this effect in those days puts another nail in the metaphorical coffin that should be the end of this conversation. But then we get into the real controversy of it, the conspiracy side in which someone will usually state that maybe the government had that type of technology all along and didn’t want to share it with the public. Maybe they needed to justify their insane amount of spending on this or that and as a result came up with the moon landing as a plausible excuse for the vast use of funds that went into the project.
Grow up people. Either believe the moon landing was real or don’t but stop looking under rocks and in dark holes that don’t exist. The idea of the US government lying to the people is nothing new and it’s nothing to scoff at, but the idea of the US government actually being able to pull the wool over people’s eyes in this way without a serious fight on their hands to uncover the truth is a pleasant fantasy that too many people fall into. Life is not like the X-Files and the government is seeking a way to justify something that was in many ways a very monumental moment for humankind.
Like I said I’m not a big fan of Adam but he seems to make a lot of sense here and I’m sure he does in other areas as well. But like the title of the show says, he tends to ruin things that a lot of people wanted to hold sacred and dear to their hearts. Thankfully I don’t watch him that often, and if you feel your views being challenged in any way you should probably abstain as well. Otherwise enjoy.
