The Bold and the Beautiful fans recognize talent when they see it, and that’s precisely what Heather Tom brings to the table. She’s a woman with a long history in Hollywood, and she’s not someone who does anything without putting her full effort into it. Her portrayal of Katie is perfection, and we want to get to know more about her as she works so hard to make us feel so much when we see her on screen. She goes from lovable to someone we hate, back to loveable, and she’s always the victim. We love it.
1. She’s a Midwesterner
Heather Tom was born in Illinois back in 1975. She is the oldest of three kids, but her parents did not maintain their marriage after their kids were born. We don’t know how old she was when they ended their marriage, but we do know she has two younger siblings.
2. She Was Another Famous Character — More Than One
We all know and love her for her role as Katie Logan on the BB, but before she was Katie, she was Victorian Newman on the Young and the Restless for many years. She began her role as Vickie in 1990 and played her character until 2003. Then she left to take a job as Kelly Cramer on One Life to Live. She’s only been Katie since 2007.
3. She’s Guest Starred on the Best Shows
From “Who’s the Boss,” to “Law and Order: SVU,” to “Monk,” to “Criminal Minds,” to “Ugly Betty,” she’s been all over the flpace. She’s amazing, and we cannot even begin to list the rest of the amazing primetime shows on which she’s had a role. She is just that good.
4. She’s Got Famous Siblings
Remember the show “The Nanny,” with Fran Drescher? Well, her younger sister, Nichole Tom, was the oldest daughter the nanny cared for, Maggie. She also starred in movies such as “Beethoven,” and many more. Her brother is also an actor, and he starred with her in some soaps.
5. Her Brother Was Her Husband
Okay, okay; not really, but definitely kind of. For years, she was Victoria Newman, and her brother was Billy Abbott. But they were no longer playing these roles when the characters ended up getting married, so they never actually got married to one another or had to share any weird kisses or anything like that.
6. She and Her Brother Made History
They are the first ever brother and sister team to make history for something seriously impressive. In 2000, they were both nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards. It’s the first time that’s ever happened for siblings, and they made history. As of 2018, she’s won 5 Emmys and been nominated for 17.
7. She’s A Business Owner
She owns a business called Tight Rope Designs. She redecorates homes in Los Angeles. Her work has been featured in InStyle as well as Elle Décor magazines. She’s even had a miniseries on HGTV that followed her career and what she did outside of the soaps.
8. She’s A Wife and Mom
She married her longtime partner in 2011. They were together for 15 years when they wed, and they welcomed their first child 14 months later. Her husband is James Achor, and her son is Zane. They own their business together, and they also work together regularly.
9. She’s Charitable
Heather Tom and her husband like to give back, and she’s been able to earn and donate a lot of money to charities that mean a lot to her. She was the first place winner in the female category of the 30th Annual Nautica Malibu Triathalon in 2016. Her win allowed her to earn more than $1.2 million for pediatric cancer research for the Children’s Hospital in LA.
10. Her Son Sometimes Stars on Television with Her
Her sweet son was born in late 2012, and she likes to bring him to work. She’s had him on the show with her more than once. He plays her son, Will Spencer from time to time. He’s not shown all that much on television as far as being her son and a character other than just mentioning him, but when he’s there; it’s her own real life son.
