From 1996 to 1997, ‘Boston Common’ was one of the highest-rated television series. This sitcom was created by David Kohan and Max Mutchnick. It was aired on NBC for two seasons which consisted of 32 episodes. It is about a man from Virginia giving his sister a ride to college in Boston and then he meets a woman and decides he also wants to stay in Boston. Although the series was a big hit at the time, it was short-lived, and the actors moved on to other projects. Here is what happened to the cast members of ‘Boston Common’.
Anthony Clark – Boyd Pritchett
Anthony Clark played the lead male role of Boyd Pritchett in this series. This was Clark’s first starring television role. He went on to have roles in ‘Ellen’, ‘The Thing Called Love’, ‘The Rock’, and ‘Yes, Dear’. Clark was then the host for ‘Last Comic Standing’. In 2011, he played the role of Jack Schumacher in ‘My Uncle Rafael’. The following year, he decided to quit acting to pursue other interests.
Hedy Burress – Wyleen Pritchett
In ‘Boston Common’, Hedy Burress played Wyleen Pritchett. When she took on this role, Hedy Burress had already starred in the film ‘Foxfire’. She continues to work as an actress and the last television film she was in was the 2010 film ‘Elevator Girl’, in which she played the role of Tessa. Since then, she has had small roles in single episodes of television series. In her personal life, she married Gary Fullerton in 2000 but they separated in 2004. Sadly, he was killed in a jet crash shortly after their separation.
Traylor Howard – Joy
The character Joy was played by Traylor Howard. Prior to ‘Boston Common, Howard had made just one appearance on television and had a small role in the 1994 film ‘Till the End of the Night’. Playing Joy in ‘Boston Common’ was her career break. When this series ended, she immediately landed the role of Sharon Carter in ‘Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place’. She was in 81 episodes of this series between 1998 and 2001. Over the next few years, she had a few small roles in film and television before playing Natalie Teeger in 87 episodes of ‘Monk’ between 2005 and 2009. She was last seen on television in 2010. She has been married three times and has two children.
Tasha Smith – Tasha King
Tasha Smith played the role of Tasha King in ‘Boston Common’ which was the series that launched her career. Some of the television series in which she has had regular or recurring roles since include ‘The Tom Show’, ‘Meet the Browns’, ‘Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse’, ‘Empire’, and ‘Daytime Divas‘. She has also had roles in many films, including ‘Miles from Home’, ‘Glass House: The Good Mother’, ‘Jumping the Broom’, ‘You, Me, and Dupree’, and ‘Addicted’. Her most recent film was in the 2017 film ‘When Love Kills: The Falicia Blakely Story’, which she directed and produced. Tasha Smith also has other business ventures, such as a line of perfume called ‘US’.
Vincent Ventresca – Jack Reed
Vincent Ventresca portrayed Professor Jack Reed. He began his career as an actor in 1991, but ‘Boston Common’ was his first regular television role as he had only appeared in single episodes of television series or had small roles in television films prior to this. He went on to have a successful career in television and played regular characters in many television series. The role for which he is probably best-known is Darien Fawkes in ‘The Invisible Man’. His most recent role was Vincent in the 2018 television film ‘Volunteers, a Rwanda Comedy’. He has been married to Diane Shiner since 1995 and they have a son and a daughter together.
Roger Rees – Harrison Cross
In season two of the series, Roger Rees played the role of President Harrison Cross. Rees has enjoyed a prolific career in film, television, and theater, This award-winning actor has played multiple lead roles in theater productions and was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 2015. In terms of his television career, he was best-known for playing Lord John Marbury in ‘The West Wing’ and Robin Colcord in ‘Cheers‘. He was married to playwright Rick Elice. Sadly, Roger Rees died after a battle with brain cancer at his home at the age of 71 on July 10, 2015.
