While the idea of an official Hamilton LEGO set seems a little out there, apparently there are enough people out there who legitimately want to see this thing happen. As some of you may know LEGO has it’s own “ideas” section on their website where people are allowed to submit their ideas for LEGO to review. If their ideas reach a 10,000 supporter threshold then LEGO will give the idea an official review. If it passes the review then the product actually gets made, is put into production, and hits stores at some point. The Hamilton LEGO set is gaining traction and is close to the 10,000 mark. Here’s the official idea on the LEGO site.
For those not familiar with Hamilton: An American Musical, it is a smash hit Broadway musical about America’s founding father Alexander Hamilton, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and filled with hip-hop and awesomeness. It will make you laugh, cheer, gasp and bawl your eyes out, sometimes all at once.
I don’t remember exactly how my Hamilton journey began, just that, despite being neither American nor a musical fan, I got hooked to the cast recording immediately. Some months later, I travelled to the greatest city in the world to see it with my own two eyes. And last Christmas, my husband gave me the most thoughtful gift: a custom Hamilton Lego set, which I am introducing today.
Enjoy this re-creation of the Richard Rodgers theater set, complete with turntable, hinged stairs and wheeled staircase.
Meet up with all your favorite characters, Aaron Burr, Thomas Jefferson, Georges Washington, Angelica, Eliza and Peggy Schuyler, Marquis de Lafayette, John Laurens, Hercules Mulligan, Maria Reynolds, King Georges and his guards, and of course, Alexander Hamilton.
Recreate the most memorable moments from the musical, Burr and Hamilton quarreling, the Schuyler sisters looking for a mind at work, immigrants getting the job done, and so much more.
