If you’ve been on the Internet for a while, you’ve probably seen your fair share of proposal videos. Whether they are beautiful, emotional successes — or dismal failures — they are all entertaining. And, let’s face it, every man in the 21st century has a pretty high bar already set for them, with all of the romantic proposal videos on Facebook and YouTube. And it looks like the bar got set even higher. A video recently released by Netflix shows Conor and Kamela, a couple who have been together since college. Plus, their first date was watching Netflix together — which had company reps “dying from cuteness!”
So, when Conor came to the streaming supergiant for help with taking their relationship to the next level, they were happy to oblige. Netflix provided an entire camera crew to help him back up an elaborate backstory: he told Kamela that they were to be featured on a new reality show, and they started filming soon afterward. Kamela had mentioned Santa Clarita Diet as one of her favorite shows on Netflix. As filming began, they started to watch what she initially believed was just another episode of the popular show. Stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant come on screen, sitting on a couch, talking about love and marriage in their signature Santa Clarita Diet banter.
At this point, the camera pans back towards the couple, pointing out the ring sitting on a shelf behind the two. The still-unsuspecting Kamela is shocked to hear Conor talking on the TV, and plopping down on the couch, squeezing in between the Santa Clarita stars. The TV-version of Conor mentions that he has a question to ask Kamela, but he wants to let his real-life counterpart ask it.
Kamela, who starts to realize what is going on, lights up entirely! She doesn’t believe it at first, but as Conor gets down on one knee to pop the question, she knows it’s real. The tears start to flow — and who can blame her? This guy made a seriously romantic gesture, going through everything he could to make his proposal to Kamela perfect! And it paid off: Kamela agreed to marry him, and he puts the ring on her finger as the newly-engaged couple embrace. She’s still in a lot of shock, but it’s starting to sink in. Plus, she looks like she has never been happier in her entire life!
They pop a bottle of celebratory champagne, as Barrymore and Olyphant congratulate the onscreen version of Conor. Kamela is star struck when Drew Barrymore congratulates her by name, and her glowing smile gets even wider! Conor really struck gold with this proposal, which was possibly one of the most unique videos released this year.
The end of the video has Kamela calling her mom, sharing the good news, still with that huge smile on her face. Plus, she tells her that Conor did a “really good job” proposing — which is an understatement! Kamela’s happiness is not surprising, as she scored a husband who would go to such lengths just to make their engagement perfect — an attitude that will make him a great spouse.
