When Beyoncé dropped her album Lemonade, it was rightfully praised as a huge artistic achievement, one brilliantly orchestrated (and marketed). It’s already become an anthem for women done wrong and moving on. However, it also started the hunt for the, “Becky with the good hair” and people wondering who the heck her husband Jay Z cheated with. Entire articles have been written about who the so-called Becky could be. Then there was the whole thing about whether being called a “Becky” is a slur or not. (The answer is a big no. I do though feel sorry for women who have gone by the nickname for years. I suppose they’re in the same boat as men named Richard….)
Beyoncé, being Beyoncé, certainly knows how to remind people who they should be focused on for this album. This is from her instagram account. It’s right before she’s headed to the Met Gala in NYC.

Before anyone starts the commentary on her dress, it’s good to remember what the, “Met Gala” actually is.
This fundraiser is for the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute. The key word here is “costume.” The New York Times says this 30,000 dollar a ticket and 275,000 a table event is invitation only, and its chair, Ms. Anna Wintour – the editor of American Vogue and the artistic director of Condé Nast – picks gets final say over every, single, guest. This isn’t just a charity event. It’s a fashion show featuring the rich and famous – and they are expected to wear expensive, one-of-kind, memorable outfits. If you’ve been invited to the Met Gala, you do not just show up in a little black dress….

Whether you find this outfit sexy and daring, or slutty and awful, (the comments have run the gamut) one thing’s for sure: no one is wondering about who Becky is!
Of course, some are wondering where Jay – Z is – because he attended with her last year. For this invitation-only event were there some thoughts about inviting a guy insane enough to cheat on a woman who looks like Beyoncé? Hmm…it’s more likely that with Lemonade having just come out, all parties involved want the spotlight squarely on where it should be – on Beyoncé!
