Going Behind the Scenes of Luc Besson’s Valerian

I’ve always been a fan of the work of Luc Besson ever since I saw The Professional and The Fifth Element.   He’s an unbelievable storyteller who tends to be way ahead of his time while also integrating amazing drama and beautiful scores.  People don’t realize just how incredible the music in his films and I really think music accounts for at least 10-20% of the effect of his movies.  And now, Besson has undertaken not only his most expensive but possibly most long awaited masterpiece in Valerian.

The pressure is certainly on Besson to deliver as this is the highest budgeted French directed film in history at over $160 million.  Besson’s also taking a chance on some relatively young and inexperienced actors.   But in all honesty I have complete faith in Besson and believe that Valerian will, at the least, be a visual masterpiece.   Only time will tell but I don’t bet against Luc Besson.

EuropaCorp and STXfilms have released a new behind-the-scenes video for Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets! Titled “See You in Space,” you can watch the extended featurette in the player below:
