This summer you’ll be able to watch the popular television series “Glow” thanks to the thoughtful Netflix lineup of entertainment. If you haven’t watched it yet and you’re into female wrestling, it’s a must see. The show focuses on the ladies sector of the wrestling industry during the 1980s era through the eyes and life of Ruth Wilder, an actress who became frustrated with her career and decided to try something new. This is the perfect opportunity for you to get caught up with season one so you’ll be ready to catch season 2 when it airs in the fall. If you’re already a fan, we have some thoughts that might be of interest for you for the upcoming season. Here are 10 predictions we’re making about “Glow” season 2.
1. Sam and Justine are headed for weirdness
In the final episode of the first season, we learned that Sam is actually Justine’s father. This new knowledge has made room for the story to take a fairly sick twist that makes most people feel a little sick at the stomach because now Sam will have to deal with the fact that he kissed his daughter Justine is going to have to get over her infatuation with Sam and try to see the relationship in its more proper perspective. Secrets can ruin lives when they’re revealed, but these two definitely needed to find out that they were father and daughter before events took a tragic form that would be impossible to reverse and difficult to move beyond on a psychological level.
2. Ruth and Debbie’s friendship will continue to decline
Before things get better between Ruth and Debbie, they’re going to get a lot worse. Their friendship has been on the rocks since Ruth caused some serious problems between Debbie and her husband. Debbie is justified in having bad feelings towards Ruth who simultaneously ruined two relationships. We predict that it will take Debbie most of the season to get things worked out in her mind, but somewhere near the end of the season, they two will reconcile and repair their relationship.
3. We’re going to see new faces
We predict that there will be new wrestlers added to the show as it gets bigger and even more popular. It just makes sense that they will introduce some new blood so there will be new rivalries to go along with the old ones. This is the nature of the sport and they’d lose a ton of realism if they didn’t make this move. It will be interesting to see what new characters appear and what kind of cool costumes they’ll be wearing in the ring.
4. Liberty Belle will take an exit
We all enjoyed Liberty Belle as she took down Zoya and she’s one of the better characters in the show, but the issues between Ruth and Debbie are going to take center stage. We are more likely to see her back as a different character in the second season. This is something that the highly creative writers will attend do, and so far, they’ve been doing a great job.
5. Cherry will take another offer
We don’t really believe that we’ve seen the last of Cherry, because she’s ambitious and she has stardust in her eyes, but we do believe that she’s going to take the cop show offer for better or worse. Our prediction is that she’ll accept the offer, and when it doesn’t work out, she’ll be back to try to worm her way back into the good graces of her Glow teammates. It would certainly make a good story line. It may even bring her character to the fore and gain her a little more attention.
6. More authenticity will be written into the stories
We’re definitely going to see more wrestling written into the scripts for season 2, but the writers will continue to move ahead with the stories of these gorgeous women athletes. Execs learned that the audience is thrilled with drama both in and out of the ring, so we’re going to see more rivalries established with a focus on the interpersonal relationships between the characters. There will be some big moments in season two and we believe that the writers are going to show us what it was really like to be a female wrestler in the 1980s era through the fictitious characters.
7. Stereotypes will be perpetuated
Half of the glamour of female wrestling is found in the stereotypes. Beautiful women who have the attitude that they’re in the ring to win, no matter what. Rivalries that develop when fierce women butt heads and when one interferes in the other’s personal lives. The outlandish costumes, the aliases and all the wonderful things that go into the world of wrestling are the things you can expect to see in season 2.
8. It will focus more on the women and their stories
We’ll see some wrestling action for certain, but Glow is more about the women and their lives. In particular, we’re going to continue to see the world of female wrestling through Ruth’s eyes and through her life. The overall attitude of the show will be affectionate with some interludes that take the characters down the path of introspection and pondering their relationships with one another. Season two will be as complex as the characters are themselves, and that’s pretty complicated.
9. We’ll learn more about wrestling
We predict that the second season will open up more about the wrestling industry and how these women navigate through it. There is a business end that goes along with the glamour and the action in the ring. The first season has established the personalities of the main characters to get the show on a solid footing. This has been successful and we can tell this because of the show’s tremendous popularity after just the first round, but we believe that it will delve more into the politics that go with televised professional wrestling.
10. New storylines will appear
We believe that the second season gives writers and producers the perfect opportunity to move into new territory with the story lines. Expect to see a few twists and turns, like we did with Justine and Sam in the first run. Just as real wrestling is filled with excitement and surprises that keeps us hooked, we’re going to see more action take place that will throw us for a loop now and then.
