“Game of Thrones” star Natalie Dormer in new Amazon Original Series

If you thought Natalie Dormer was charming and devious in Game of Thrones then you can throw out the charming part and add in vicious as she gears up for the remake of Picnic at Hanging Rock. Amazon Prime is bringing the series back as it casts the former GoT star as headmistress Appleyard, a rather vindictive and unforgiving woman that is the tyrant of the show and seems bent on making everyone miserable. That’ll be a far cry from her sweet and seemingly innocent character on GoT, though it seems from the trailer that she can handle it just fine.

The original story dealt with the disappearance of three girls that are students at a nearby school who go missing one day. The search to find them goes on for years and as it does more and more problems begin to arise for the school as parents begin to pull their children and create even more issues. The mystery thriller is sure to be something that could capture the attention of those that like a good bout of suspense and unforeseen events. So far Natalie Dormer sounds positively mean as she can be heard in the trailer, and will no doubt provide a top level performance just as she did on GoT. It might not be for everyone but anyone that’s a fan of Dormer really needs to tune into this one since she looks positively brutal even though she still looks quite lovely in the much less revealing clothing that she gets to wear for this show. If you’ll remember for GoT she was almost always garbed in flowing, revealing gowns that showed off her figure and managed to give her a rather stunning allure that endeared her to many of those she was around most times.

In this show she’s going to be the mean-spirited headmistress that it’s not wise to cross, the woman that rules her school with an iron fist and doesn’t pay much attention to people’s feelings if she doesn’t have to. That’s a far cry from her previous role, but if you recall she was still kind of mean-spirited in GoT, but she didn’t show it as much since she had to play the game right along with everyone else. The only trouble is that her character didn’t realize when she and everyone else was being played. This time around it doesn’t seem like her character will play games, but it also doesn’t seem like she will be able to convince those around her that she’s anything but coarse and abrupt. If it works though then obviously the idea is to push it and make her seem like the devil by the end of the show.

Margaery Tyrell will be like a distant, pleasant dream compared to this woman as she already seems to be the witch that is bound to be the main antagonist in the series, the one that people will grow to hate rather quickly. It’ll be a switch, Dormer can do it.
