Game of Thrones Fan Theory Claims Ser Davos is the Prince Who was Promised

Game of Throne fan theories have been flying hot and heavy since the last season ended, and they’re not coming up short anytime soon with season 7 about to debut in July. But if you thought the other theories you’ve paid so much attention to swung wide of what you expected you haven’t heard one of the best ever to reach the ears of the faithful. It’s a rumor at this point but one that’s gaining strength as it builds and builds to what should be a stunning climax of vindication or disappointment, preferably the former, when the season finally arrives. So what is the newest rumor that has everyone buzzing?

Ser Davos is Azhor Ahai. He is the Prince that was promised, the one man that can bring the white walkers a resounding and ultimate defeat.  You might wonder how this rumor was started, so here’s a few pointers that will make it all fall into place.

The Azhor Ahai will wield the Lightbringer, the sword that will vanquish the white walkers.

We saw in season 2 as Stannis Baratheon wielded the supposed Lightbringer, but considering that he eventually fell to Brienne of Tarth as retribution for Renley’s death, he was not the chosen one. Instead, Davos picked up this same sword in season 2 and walked off with it.

The stars will bleed in the time of the Azhor Ahai’s coming.

A lot of people thought a lot of different things when the red comet was seen in the sky, but the two most popular theories were that it meant it the return of dragons, or the Azhor Ahai.

When darkness gathers the Azhor Ahai will come.

As part of Stannis’s failed attack on King’s Landing, Davos and the others were forced to wait until darkness gathered to attack. Unfortunately they were only in time to be blown to bits by the green alchemist’s fire that decimated the fleet. This however leads into the next part of the prophecy.

He will be born again of ash and salt.

Davos was thrown out to sea amidst the explosion of his vessel, and eventually presumed dead. When he was found by one of his old smuggling friends however he was very much alive and ready to come back. Even Stannis thought he was dead. Maybe he was, and he simply needed a catalyst to be reborn. Eh?

The Azhor Ahai will wake dragons out of stone.

Now this is where the prophecy gets tricky, but not really. Did you happen to think it was Melisandre that raised Jon Snow? Do you not recall how Davos spent so much time muttering to himself and standing over Jon’s body, as though contemplating what must be done to bring him back? And lo and behold, once he leaves the room, Snow awakens, on a stone slab. Now you might say, hey, that makes no sense, but that would mean you haven’t been paying attention. Do recall that another theory says that Jon Snow is not a Stark, but a Targaryen, and was fathered by none other than Rhaegar, who belongs to, you guessed it, House Targaryen, the house of the dragon. So in no uncertain terms, Davos did indeed raise a dragon out of stone, so to speak.

Feeling your nerves jump and down yet? One of the most constant and yet unassuming characters is about to become one of the biggest heroes ever, if the theory holds out. Cross your fingers and think positive.
