The ante for Wonder Woman to perform at the box office just went up considerably. With news that Ben Affleck stepped out of the director’s chair for a solo Batman movie and the fact that Batman Vs. Superman was panned means that the DC Universe needs a movie to step up and be successful. And it’s not like Suicide Squad helped the cause. While Batman and Suicide Squad raked in $1.6 billion, moviegoers were left unsatisfied.
Can Gal Gadot save the day as Wonder Woman? One positive she has going for her is that despite critics despising Batman vs Superman, most agreed that Gadot was one of the few shining lights of the film. Now that there will be a stand alone Wonder Woman movie it gives writers the opportunity to explore the character in more depth as well as reveal something about her past. So far the cast looks stellar. Gadot is joined Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Chris Pine, and Lisa Loven Kongsli. And speaking of stellar, Gadot just shared this picture on her Instagram account.

Gal Gadot has looked sensational in every single trailer, image, you name it, while playing Wonder Woman. But can she move the DC Universe forward? Unfortunately she’s about the only hope there is at the moment. Wonder Woman will hit theaters in June.
