If the first season of Ultimate Beastmaster kept you glued to the screen and you felt like life was over when it ended, buckle up and get ready for the second season. The first reality series that Netflix premiered last year is an athletic competition show created by David Broome who was the executive producer for “The Biggest Loser.” Broome said that the idea of the series came to him while stuck in traffic on the 101 freeway. At the time he thought of bringing “Mario Bros to life to create the ultimate obstacle for competitors.”
Broome executively produces the show alongside Sylvester Stallone. It features athletes from various parts of the world who compete to beat a huge obstacle dubbed “The Beast.” Five things you probably did not know about the Ultimate Beastmaster are discussed below.
The Hosts will be a Comedian and NFL Star
The second season of the show is likely to be a lot of fire with an exciting combination of hosts. The hosts for the new season that will premiere on 15th December will be Chris DiStefano who is a comedian and Tiki Barber, a former NFL star.
International Competition Brings a Unique Element to the Table
The first season saw teams from South Korea, Brazil, United States, Japan, Germany, and Mexico take on the beast to see who would emerge the winner. Broome’s 25/7 productions came up with six versions each with different editing and its pair of announcers speaking in the native language of the country a game-changer in the industry.
The 2nd season promises to be bigger and better. Teams that will compete will come from US, Spain, India, France, Italy, China, South Korea, Brazil, and Mexico. It gives the show a worldwide appeal because watching the representatives adds a unique dimension that you cannot easily find anywhere.
The “Beast” is 600- Foot-Long
Most people do not believe that the obstacle course is 600-foot-long as it usually appears smaller on the show. The beast also measures almost 85 feet tall and 80 feet wide. It is divided into four levels and lives in Santa Clarita in California. The obstacles are suspended over red colored water earning the name of beast blood. Rumor has it that it is the most prominent consecutive set that has ever been built for unscripted TV series globally.
Hundreds of Competitors Participate
Although the episodes which are an hour long only showcase 12 competitors (two from each country), hundreds of athletes from different countries around the globe compete to complete the course until finally just one is crowned the winner. Each episode produces its winner. The winners compete against each other in the final event to reveal the Ultimate Beastmaster.
Some Obstacles Use Motion in an Innovative Way
The beast is home to numerous obstacles some that cleverly use motion. There are suspended platforms, ramps, and treadmills that move and spin. The mag wall features hand holds that fall out of the wall.
