Five things you didn’t know about Jane Street Entertainment include:

Deal with Optomen Productions

Producer Donna Macletchie and All3Media signed a copro deal. It implies that the Jane Street team will be responsible for the creation, development, and production of non-scripted formats and content. They will be doing this in collaboration with Optomen for both US and other international markets. The deal will see Donna closely working with Maria Silver who is the president of Optomen and Ricky Kelehar SVP of development. MacLetchie and Silver will work as executive producers on all the series that will stem from the venture.

Jane Street Entertainment has a Unit that Solely Focuses on Food

The production company with its base in New York launched a unit they call ‘Yum.’ It mainly concentrates on formats that are food related to different genres like lifestyle, travel, and culinary. The unit will be in charge of managing all the current production that the establishment already has under food. It will also come up with new content suitable for the segment. It came about because the producers believe they have a trusting and deep relationship in the food industry and want to continue expanding the space.

Gemma Davies and John Varela are part of the Team

As a means of boosting development, Jane Street hired Gemma Davies to work as VP Of development. John Varela also works in the department as a development director. These are people who have experience in the field and are known to deliver exceptional results. Davies oversees development of creative formats and docuseries for US broadcast and Cable networks. Varela who worked for MTV Networks in animation, reality and comedy departments will also take on similar roles supporting the developments of the establishment.

Jane Street does not believe in Unions for Freelancers

Jane street entertainment does not support the idea of their freelance writers being part of a union. Instead, it thinks that the company can do a better job in regards to safeguarding their interests than if they had union representation. The owners say that when the writers are part of a union, they will be arm-twisted to agree to a collective decision. The firm would, however, work directly with the talent as part of a team. For instance, they say that if the freelancers need a raise, they would have to go through the union. However, if they were not part of it, the writers can talk to the bosses about any demands they have.

The Company does not Offer Freelancers Health Benefits

It is one of the reasons the firm is against unions. The executive producers reckon that Obamacare works just fine. Proprietors argue that Obamacare has already made changes to the issue of health benefits. It implies that what the unions are offering will not be necessarily required. They also feel that the union does not provide the best platforms in regards to portable health care to its members in all the contracts they have signed merely because the model does not work.
