Irrfan Khan is the professional name of Sahabzade Irfan Ali Khan who was born in Rajasthan, India, on January 7, 1967. This actor is often credited in films simply as Irrfan. Although he is predominantly associated with Hindi cinema, Khan has also worked in Hollywood and British films. 1. He Studied at the National School of Drama
Irrfan Khan grew up in Rajasthan, India. After leaving school, he attended university and studied for an MA degree This earned him a scholarship to study at the National School of Drama in New Delhi. He attended the NSD in 1984.
2. He Was in ‘Life of Pi’
One of Irrfan Khan’s most successful films was ‘Life of Pi’. In this 2012 survival drama film, he plays the role of the adult Piscine Molitor ‘Pi’ Patel. The movie is an adaptation of a novel of the same name by Yann Martel and was directed by Ang Lee. Three other actors also played the role of ‘Pi’ at various stages in his life. These were Gautam Belur, Ayush Tandon, and Suraj Sharma.
3. He Has Voiced Two Video Games
In addition to his work in film and television, Irrfan Khan has been involved in many other ventures. For example, he has provided a voice for two video games. He provided the voice of Simmon Masrani in ‘Lego Jurassic World’ and ‘Lego Dimensions’. Both of these video games were released in 2015.
4. He is Married with Two Sons
Irrfan Khan is married to Sutapa Sikdar, a writer and producer. She is also a graduate of the National School of Drama and has written or produced several Indian films and television series, including ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’ and ‘Banegi Apni Batt’. In the latter, Khan starred as one of the actors. Their wedding took place on February 23, 1995. The couple has two sons together; Babil and Ayan. The family remains living in India.

Irrfan Khan is a hugely talented actor and this has been recognized on many occasions as he has won multiple awards for his work. As of March 2018, he had won an amazing 31 awards for many different films. One of his most successful films in terms of awards was the 2016 film ‘Piku’. For this film alone, he was nominated for nine awards of which he won three. He won an Indian Film Festival of Melbourne Award for Best Actor, a Screen Awards for Best Actor (Critics Choice), and a Film of India Online Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
