1: Blac grew up in the in McMillan, South Memphis

There is a reason why celebrations break out when Blac lands in town. In the exclusive interview with VIBE, he talked about how he grew up in McMillan struggling. McMillan wasn’t a place filled with fun; it’s a town famous for notorious criminal gangs and shootings.

2: Blac Youngsta actually sold drugs, and learned rap in Jail

In his interview with the VIBE magazine, Blac Youngsta confessed of learning to swipe dope for dollars at a very tender age. At barely 7 years, he was already selling narcotics and engaging in street brawl. He got arrested on many charges relating to drugs, and unlawful possession of firearms. The longest time he ever spent behind bars was one year. In one occasion, he was turned in by a fake client who had pretended to buy his dope. The prison turned out to a blessing for him. He started rapping, and by the time was he was released, he’d already started thinking of releasing an album.

3: Life was so hard when he was growing up forcing him to work for food

As an adolescent, Blac got a job at a local grocery store through the arrangements made by his grandfather. The pay didn’t involve money but a daily ration of food to take home. He narrated how he could carry boxes and arrange things in the store all day just to be paid with food in the evenings. This was some time before he started selling drugs. He claimed to have broken stores to steal food and clothing to his family. His first encounter with the law was after he had stolen food from his boss.

4: It was Yo Gotti who discovered him by signing him to his CMG Records

Blac Youngsta credits Gotti with introducing him to the mainstream rap world. Apparently, Gotti called him in his private jet and offered him a deal. Blac considers that day to be the happiest day of his life considering that the event took place when he was trying to come to terms with his brother’s murder. He talked about how he started taking rap seriously from that day henceforth. Through some of the turbulent times in the town, Blac lost his younger brother in a shootout. He was devastated but it kept his rap alive until he was discovered by Gotti.

5: Youngsta once got arrested for withdrawing $200,000

In 2016, Blac had just withdrawn $200,000 at Wells Fargo Bank branch in Atlanta along Peachtree Road when cops arrested him. It later emerged that he had been mistaken for another person who had been doing some fraudulent activities in the area. Blac said he was going to buy a car with the money and his pleas were never considered by the police.
