Five Things You Didn’t Know About BET’s “50 Central”

There is a new show on BET TV. “50 Central” features the humor along with the other talents of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in a new variety show that has recently come to life in the September 27th premiere airing. The show will bring a new generation in the comedy/variety genre with some content that we’ve not yet seen in the category. It’s off to an exciting start, but here are five things that you didn’t know about “50 Central.”

1. “50 Central” represents an important first for Jackson

50 Cent is an iconic figure in the world of hip hop and he’s developed quite reputation as a funny man and a prankster, but there are a few things that he’s never done in his life, that is until he became involved with “50 Central.” One of them is being a variety show host. Although he’s won awards for being an actor, entrepreneur and rapper, this is the first time that he’s ever served as an MC of a variety series.

2. The series will feature “unprecedented comedy sketches

We’ve seen a lot of innovations in comedy in the past few decades, but “50 Central” has made the promises to deliver sketches the like of which we’ve never seen before. With Jackson involved, we’re sure that it’s going to include some off the wall materials. Is there any taboo that SNL has not yet explored? We’re about to find out and we’re sure that the writers have some good content in store for viewers. Since it’s a late night

3. BET has approved a long run for the season

It isn’t often that a brand-new show gets approved for 24 installments, but that’s precisely what BET TV has done for “50 Central.” The segments will appear in late night variety slots and will last for thirty minutes each episode. Twenty-four is a decent amount so the network must have a high level of confidence that the show will pull in viewership at this hour.

4. A return to “Candid Camera”

Many of us still remember how great it was to see the reactions of everyday people being pranked by the “Candid Camera” staff. “50 Central” includes an infusion of such pranks into their thirty-minute segments with hidden camera pranks that catch people in the act of being themselves. We’re excited to find out how people react when they don’t know that there’s anyone watching them. Sometimes reality is a lot funnier than a scripted show could ever be.

5. An A-list is planned for season one

50 Cent is the guy in charge of hand picking the acts who will appear on his new variety show. We’re going to hear musical performances, see some great pranks and the heavily promoted new comedy sketches that the show is currently boasting. Fif promises that he’s chosen A-line celebrities to help him in this fun and exciting venture. He also serves as a co-executive producer so he has the right to decide who is going to appear. So far, we know that we’re going to see Vince Swann, Mark Harley, Kiya Roberts, Tristen J. Winger and Jasmine Brown as key cast members. His goal is to ensure that each member joining the group has something different and new to contribute. This will help in promoting the variety theme.
