Some series really don’t know when to quit. Whether it’s because they’re trying to regain whatever glory they had with the fans or if they think that people will just come around again it’s kind of annoying how some shows just tend to stick around without any good reason. True Blood was a popular show and some would argue it still is. The best part of the show is arguably Anna Paquin since she’s one of the only real talents, but that’s not enough to carry a show and most directors know it. But still they keep trotting this drama out in an effort to make certain people now that it’s still there and still relevant. Well, they’re half right.
Here’s some basic reasons why the show needs to stay gone once it’s over.
5. The story line is getting ridiculous.
Does anyone remember how it began at this point? The synthetic blood that allowed vampires to coexist with humans? That’s like trying to coexist with cows because you discovered tofu, and the worst part is that there are already people trying to do this. When it comes to one’s nature there’s not a lot that anyone can do to fight it forever, much less negate the urges that are a part of their biological persona. In other words, truces between hunter and prey don’t typically last this long.
4. The characters are getting overplayed.
It’s becoming just another soap opera drama with vampires. There was already an entire movie series based around this premise, wasn’t that enough? Now we have to watch the angst-ridden bloodsuckers of another coven as they go about bemoaning their existence and why their problems are greater than the problems of others and boo hoo. Please tell me why the romanticism in vampire shows is so prized over the more violent and life or death scenes?
3. The originality is non-existent.
Vampire movies have already been done so many different ways that it’s becoming difficult to do anything new, but it’s still important to try. Synthetic blood is not a new thing and it’s not original. If anything the premise is a rip off of so many other vampire films that there’s no wonder why interest in the show has waned to such a degree. The moment anything seems original in this show please let me know.
2. It’s killing the vampire culture.
Along with the Twilight series and the Vampire Diaries this show is slowly and surely killing the vampire mythos as it sucks the life from the legends, pun very much intended, that it was created to emulate. Maybe there’s a reason why Bela Lugosi and Nosferatu were solitary figures. They might have understood that bringing any more into their fold would have been more undue drama they didn’t need.
1. Seriously, just wave goodbye and be done with it.
Stop supporting the idea that it will come back, just have done with it, wave goodbye, and find something else to watch. Few people, if any, are going to really lament the loss of this show and I’d be willing to sign a petition to keep it from ever coming back.
Goodbye and don’t feel pressured to come back.
