A lot of times we watch movies just to entertain ourselves. We don’t want to think and we don’t want to be bogged down by too much information. That’s a part of why cheesy action films make us so happy because they’re almost all action and no real thought. Terminator 2: Judgment Day was not quite this way however. You had to at least use a little bit of brainpower to navigate the slightly twisting byways of the plot, but it wasn’t too hard. The action came in at just the right moment in order to save your mind from overheating and melting down into a puddle of goo that didn’t care what was happening so long as something WAS happening. But there are still a few questions that we’d like to know about some of our favorite movies.
Here are a few from T2
5. Why wouldn’t the bikers just gang up on him?
When was the last time you saw a gang of bikers, we’re assuming that they were all in a group, fought fairly? Sure they all started getting in on the act once the Terminator grabbed the first guy’s hand and started crushing it. But it was still largely a one on one thing as they came one at a time. Why wouldn’t guns be drawn and a showdown be underway when he started kicking the first couple guys around?
4. Why didn’t the T-1000 just run John down?
The chase was intense but there’s no way a little dirt bike is running away from a full-sized truck. Plus you could see that the T-1000 was just toying with him by bumping into the rear of the bike again and again. This is a good example of how the writers like to play with the characters in a very sadistic fashion since in real life that truck would have run the bike down without any difficulty.
3. Why did the T-1000 rely so much on a firearm?
He could form his body into just about any weapon needed for the job, so why limit himself to a firearm? A pair of sword-like hands and arms would dispatch people just as quickly and would never run out of ammo. Making the T-1000 a soulless killer didn’t mean it needed to skimp on brains. If it was going to be really effective it would have stuck to its original weapons the whole way through.
2. Who was Enrique to Sarah?
We know there’s a type of relationship there since they know both Sarah and John, but aside from the guns and the help he might have given her there’s no real talk of what they are to each other. Obviously Enrique is married with kids so it’s not that kind of relationship. But how did they meet? How long did they know one another?
1. Who ended up with the rest of the first Terminator?
This was probably covered in the movie but it still stands as a good question since the first Terminator was crushed but never fully dismantled. Who in the world ended up with the rest of the machine? I mean we know it supposedly disappeared in that lightning flash but come on, there’s more. Is that why we’ve been able to have so many different sequels now? Did someone parse out pieces to different companies as a sort of challenge to see who could come up with the best idea?
It was a fun movie, but there are a few questions that remain unanswered.
