Five Movie Characters Based Loosely off of Pocahontas

Movie characters that are based, very loosely, off of Pocahontas will typically have a different regard for authority, a lot of passion for what they do, and a sense of right and wrong that’s not typically seen by everyone else in the same light. That being said, the fact that they are “loosely” adapted from such a character means that they also won’t have her innate sense of pacifism, meaning that they won’t seek a non-violent way to settle matters when they find it. What this means is that while they’ll go about things their own way these characters will do so in a manner conducive with how they feel and look at the world. It’s a little difficult to really nail down who is loosely based off of such a character and who is so far out of left field that she’s her own character completely, but those listed below are a best-guess scenario based upon certain factors that make them unique and still like this iconic character in enough ways to draw some sort of conclusion that they do possess a few similarities.

So here we go.

5. Alice-Resident Evil

Alice is a warrior but she’s also an idealist in the beginning seeking to take down a system that is firmly set against the will of the people and the peace that needs to exist between them. Her passion soon becomes her pain which in turn becomes her strength as she continually works against the very reason that she was created. It sounds convoluted, but then so does the overall story.

4. Laura Croft-Tomb Raider

It’s all about the tenacity and the willingness of this woman to do whatever it takes to achieve a goal that makes her in any way similar to Pocahontas. In all other ways Lara Croft is her own person since she’s not afraid to throw down and get a little dirty when the situation absolutely calls for it. Something about her though, the fiery passion that she lives with, is definitely familiar.

3. Diana Prince-Wonder Woman

The naive manner that pushes her to do the right thing even if it’s not as simple as she wants it to be is pretty much why Wonder Woman was chosen. Obviously as time goes on and she spends more time in the world of mankind she loses that wonderment and comes to realize just what the world outside of her own is all about, but she’s still very much an idealist at times.

2. Princess Leia-Star Wars

The intensity and the fierce passion that this woman lived with was just too much for words. There was no compromise with her when it came to what she fought for and what she believed in. She didn’t bow down to anyone and would refuse to give in to the beliefs of others when her will was set. In many ways she had the spirit of Pocahontas which is essentially the need to do what is right and just.

1. Katniss Everdeen-The Hunger Games

Much of this pick has to do with youth, inexperience dealing with new and unknown situations, and the drive and passion to make it all work somehow. Katniss had almost no idea what she was doing going in, and yet she managed to survive somehow by making the best out of a bad situation.

Remember the term ‘loosely’ and then let your imagination wander.
