Five Cool Shows in Development on HGTV

HGTV has several popular shows focusing on finding and rehabbing homes. These shows have loyal fan bases. The upcoming season promises some exciting new shows on HGTV that should be well received. The popular “Flip or Flop” is expanding to five regions of the country with new hosts for each city. “Fixer Upper” has started its own spin off focusing on Joanna Gaines’ designs for each home she and husband Chip rehab.

Here are five cool new shows for fans of HGTV to get excited about.

1. Flip or Flop Atlanta

The success of HGTV’s “Flip or Flop” has resulted in 5 new spinoffs for the franchise. Each new show focuses on flipping homes in different regions of the country. “Flip or Flop Las Vegas” premiered last month with hosts MMA fighter Bristol Marundes and his wife Aubrey following a format similar to the original “Flip or Flop”. The spinoffs include shows filmed in Chicago, Fort Worth and Nashville.

“Flip or Flop Atlanta” will focus on its geographical region. The show features hosts Ken and Anita Casina. Ken is a full time real estate investor with a Masters Degree in residential development. He founded Georgia Residential Partners in 2005 and has bought and sold over 500 properties. The couple have 3 children and live in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

2. Cobblestone Development

“Cobblestone Development” focuses on Breese and Josh Romano who own a home rehab business in Richmond, Virginia. The Romanos modernize and restore older homes in the Richmond area. Their goal is to restore homes in rundown neighborhoods to their original beauty while updating and modernizing them. The concept is similar to “Flip or Flop” and “Fixer Upper” but is more urban and more focused on renovation. The Romanos and their team, including Josh’s dad John and other family members, take homes to the bare bone and rebuild them taking care to keep the features of the original home with attention to detail.

Josh Romano founded his business in 2013 and Breese joined the company as a designer the following year. The first year of business saw the renovation and sale of 3 homes. The following year they worked on 30 homes. “Cobblestone Development” focuses on local Richmond businesses and shops including Caravati’s, Shades of Light, and Siewers Lumber and Millwork. The first home featured on the show, a 1927 Battery Park home, was staged with furniture from Richmond’s Class or Trash and Paisley and Jade with artwork from the local Studio Two Three.

3. Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s new HGTV show

Fans of third generation NASCAR champion, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., may be surprised to find him involved in home renovation show. Earnhardt and his wife, Amy, will renovate a classic but rundown house in the Old Town section of Key West. They will take on the tasks of rebuilding the structure and modernizing its electric and plumbing systems. Dale met Amy, an interior designer, while building his home in North Carolina. Amy worked with the Atlanta-based architectural firm Wakefield Beasley & Associates which worked on Dale’s home. The two fell in love and married in 2016. They are excited to share their love of renovating homes in this new series.

4. Tiny Paradise

“Tiny Paradise” will follow couples, families and singles as they construct small homes in breathtaking locations. The show will feature homes built in Tulum Mexico, Maui Hawaii, Telluride Colorado and other paradise locations. Each home will be 400 feet or smaller and will be customized by the owner. “Tiny Paradise” will explore some of the world’s most scenic locations as it follows the building of small dream homes. “Tiny Paradise” is scheduled to premier in July.

5. House Hunters Family

The hit HGTV show “House Hunters” has a spin off set to premiere in July follows families as they decide together which of 3 homes they want to buy. The show will make the point that each family member has his or her own needs and desires for their new home and there may need to be compromises. Like “House Hunters” in format, “House Hunters Family” will showcase 3 homes that fit the families budget and the family will decide together which home will be theirs.
