Season 7 of Game of Thrones is upon us, and now our wait is done. After delays, teasers, and a bloody promise handed to us at the end of season 6 it has become reasonable to assume that things are beginning to come to a definite end in GoT world. The white walkers are on the move, and life in Westeros has become a great deal more interesting as the Iron Throne sits poised to repel all comers. There’s only one problem, the Iron Throne doesn’t really make its bearer more powerful, it places a massive target on their head.
The war to end all wars is coming quickly, and Westeros needs to be ready. Here are some of the boldest predictions being made for GoT this coming season.
5. Arya’s body count will continue to grow.
Remember little Arya in season 1? She didn’t seem like she could hurt a fly, let alone a fully grown man. But as the story has progressed she’s become quite the daring little assassin. She’s taken out several people to this point including Walder Frey, the decrepit old man that orchestrated the murder of her brother and mother. Arya’s list is not yet completed, but there’s no telling how many additions she’ll make before she reaches her final target.
4. Cersei won’t be on the Iron Throne for long.
She’s coveted this position for quite some time. It’s been obvious since season 1 that she craves power more than anything, and will do whatever it takes to get it. Even with Joffrey upon the throne she was not afforded as much respect as she wanted, and it showed. With Tommen out of the way and the death of Myrcella there is no one left to stand in her path. She will not be likely to sit long on the Iron Throne however, as she doesn’t have the temperament to do much more than punish those she considers beneath her, which is everyone. Eventually she will be deposed and perhaps even killed as is her due.
3. Tyrion and Jon Snow will become dragon riders.
In the old legends there were always three dragon riders. We can already guess that it was never going to be Jorah riding beside the Mother of Dragons, nor any of those that traveled with her. Tyrion is rumored to be of Targaryen blood, and it is already known that Jon shares the same bloodline. So unless Jon and Dany come to blows there’s a good chance that the dragons will each be bearing a rider into battle.
2. The Wall will be coming down.
Considering how long it’s stood and for what purpose it’s impressive that the Wall has been around for so long. But all things must end, and a gigantic block of ice separating the North from Westeros is not going to cut it against creatures that don’t feel fatigue or the biting cold. The white walkers will swarm over the Wall or go through it if they must. Either way, the Wall is going to become all but useless in the coming season.
1. Westeros will unite or it will fall.
This may seem like a very broad prediction but it is as true as it can be. The white walkers don’t care who they attack so long as they are living. The dead will savage the living in an attempt to gain dominance throughout Westeros, plain and simple. If the people of Westeros pull together then there is a chance that they can win. If they continue to squabble and ignore the coming horror, then all will be lost.
GoT fans are no doubt getting extremely excited to welcome the oncoming season and are chomping at the bit to see which predictions come true. No matter what, Westeros is never going to be the same.
