Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with who is with whom in Hollywood. There are very few fortunate couples who haven’t had issues because of infidelity. Some decidedto stay together and work things out, while others choose to call it quits over the affairs. Whenever a celebrity who is married is seen in the company of anyone other than their spouse, rumors begin to fly. In some cases it’s true and in others, it is merely gossip. We’re focusing on the rumors that were proven true and cases of blatant incidences of cheating that has led to divorce. Here are twenty celebrity couples who ended their marriages because of infidelity.
Swiss Beatz and Mashonda
Swiss is a hip hop producer who is currently married to Alicia Keys, but he had a wife when the two began to date. There is usually a disclaimer made when celebrities are caught cheating on their spouses. This arrangement is no different. Keys claims that the couple was already in trouble when she came on the scene, but that isn’t what Mashonda had to say about it. She shared that she and Beatz were attempting to work things out, and were making progress, but Alicia insinuated herself into the situation. The rumors suggest that Alicia was the cause of the end of this marriage and that if she had just stayed out of the picture, things may have worked out differently. The couple divorced because of the affair and Beatz and Keys now have a child together.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver
This was one of the most widely publicized breakups to hit the media. Arnold was more than a movie star, he is also the former governor of the state of California. The famous multi-talented and handsome personality was caught having an affair with the couples’ housekeeping Mildred Baena.The relationship allegedly occurred fourteen years before Shriver filed for divorce in 2011. Sure, nobody caught them in bed together, but the fact that Arnold had been paying the housekeeper support for her child for more than a decade was suspicious. What sealed the deal is when the truth came out that Arnold was actually the child’s father. Both Schwarzenegger and Shriver are ultra famous.
Of course Arnold for his career in show business and in politics, and Shriver for her career in journalism and the fact that she is a member of the famous Kennedy family. There was a brief lull after the news first broke and nobody really knew what Maria was going to do about it. There had been other allegations of Arnold’s wandering eye throughout the years, including accusations from women who claimed that he had groped them in elevators. The 25 year marriage came to an end when Maria discovered that Baena’s child was in fact fathered by Schwarzenegger. When Maria filed for dissolution, she was kind in her reasons by listing the reason for the petition as “irreconcilable differences.”
Katharine McPhee and Nick Cokas
McPhee became the subject of conversation because she was allegedly caught kissing Michael Morris, the “Smash” director who was also married at the time. It was widely rumored that the singer was engaged in an extramarital relationship with Morris. Katharine denies the accusations and claims that the couple was already divorced at the time, but few believed her story. This incident caught some attention in gossip circles, but it didn’t get a lot of press.
Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie O’Neal
Shaq and Shaunie’s divorce happened because his wife became tired of the trail of women that he was in contact with. There were rumors circulating for years that O’Neal liked to have a little something going on the side, but without proof, they remained speculation. Hoopz, the reality star proudly announced that she is responsible for stealing Shaq from his wife. Shaunie had been aware of several other women whom Shaq was seeing and Hoopz was the straw that broke the camel’s back. The couple divorced and went their separate ways.
Jesse James and Sandra Bullock
Sandra is still known as America’s sweetheart. There was a firestorm when she broke up with husband Jesse James for his infidelity. While James and Bullock were still married, he began an affair with a stripper named Michelle McGee. James very openly stated, “I cheated on my wife,” and he was not shy about it. In fact, he was very public. Bullock filed for divorce after the incident. This was one of the larger media sensations that involved a couple breaking up over infidelity. Fans of Bullock’s are fiercely loyal to her and there were many who were angry with James for breaking her heart. Before an official announcement of the split was made, the classy Sandra took some time away from the situation. It blew up rather quickly and became a hot topic on social media. This isn’t something that anyone really wants to read about, particularly when it is about them. We didn’t see her in public until she was ready to make her official announcement. Bullock showed a lot of class in her public handling of the affair and with her decision to end the marriage.
Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore
Demi Moore made the announcement in November of 2011 that she and then husband Ashton Kutcher, were divorcing because of “irreconcilable differences.” Just a month before she made the announcement, a story was ran in the “US Weekly” publication that hinted Kutcher was cheating on Demi with Sara Leal, a 22 year old. Leal later discussed what had taken place at Kutcher’s room at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego. If what she said was true, then it did appear that Kutcher was being unfaithful to Moore. The divorce became final in November of 2013.
Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren
Elin Nordegren divorced famous celebrity golfer Tiger Woods in 2010. This came after several women told their stories about being intimately involved with Woods while the couple was married. This went on for a few months late in the year of 2009. There was proof of his infidelity in a voicemail message that was leaked, allegedly left by Woods for yet another mistress that had not yet come forward along with the others. Woods admitted to having the sexual affairs with these women and made a public apology to his supporters and his wife, but Elin could not continue in the relationship after the extent of his cheating was revealed. Woods had a long line of women that he had carried on sexual activities with through the duration of their marriage.
Eddie Cibrian and Brandi Glanville
Eddie Cibrian cheated on his model wife Brandi Glanville, in 2008. He was photographed making out with LeAnn Rimes. The two were co-stars in “Northern Lights” and their relationship moved way past professional and into the realm of infidelity. Glanville divorced Cibrian as a result of the love affair. This was a topic of conversation in gossip circles for several weeks.
LeAnn Rimes and Dean Sheremet
At the time that LeAnn Rimes was carrying on an affair with her co-star Eddie Cibrian, she was married to dancer Dean Sheremet. The photographs that served as proof of her cheating also brought an end to her relationship with Sheremet. This became a big scandal that attracted the attention of the media. After Cibrian and Rimes were legally divorced from their former spouses, they married each other in 2011. If this doesn’t remove all doubt as to whether the rumors are true or not, we’re not quite sure what would.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Kim Porter
Kim Porter gave birth to Combs’ twins in December o 2006. In an ironic twist, she learned that her husband had fathered a child with a mistress, and she had given birth five months prior to the birth of the couples’ children. This was no doubt, a devastating blow for Kim. Porter shared her feelings on the matter as well as her experience in the Fall of 2007 that she had been aware of the fact that her husband had been unfaithful to her. She knew about it before the media began reporting on the scandal. Kim ended her relationship with Combs in 2007.
Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani
As far back as February of 2015, Gwen Stefani suspected that her husband Gavin Rossdale was being unfaithful to her. Up until there was proof, they remained suspicions. The truth of his sexual wanderings was revealed as Gwen found photos and text messages which had been exchanged between the couples’ nanny Mindy Mann and Rossdale. Stefani filed for divorce from Rossdale in August of 2015 citing the reasons for the petition as “irreconcilable differences.”
Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman
Ethan Hawke was linked intimately with Canadian model Jen Perzow in 2003. This was reported by the San Francisco Chronicle. The story published made the allegations that Ethan had cheated on Thurma. Rumors of his affair with the model began to increase and it pushed the couple to the breaking point. They separated from one another in the same year that the story came out, and divorced two years later in August of 2005.
Hugh Grant and Elizabeth Hurley
Grant was married to Elizabeth Hurley, his co-star in “Remando Al Viento.” The two had been through ups and downs in the relationship and appeared to truly be giving it a shot for working things out. Grant was arrested in June of 1995. The charges were a misdemeanor for soliciting a prostitute. The incident occurred in his car. This was the famous scandal that hit the media when he and Destiny Brown were sexually linked with one another. There was no escaping the truth because it was a matter of public record. Grant made a public apology on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” and admitted what he had done and that it was wrong. Hurley forgave him and the couple continued to work on their relationship, but the couple ended their relationship five years after the event took place.
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston
In 2005, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston had achieved a seven year relationship and were married. Pitt was co-starring in a film with Jolie titled “Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Rumors began to fly about the two and they suggested that there was an affair taking place. Both Jolie and Pitt denied the rumors, but it becae obvious that in this case, where there was smoke, there was indeed fire. Pitt and Aniston divorced in 2005 as a result of Jolie’s interference in their relationship. They soon announced their relationship as a couple and it became apparent that Jolie had stolen Aniston’s husband from her. They had several children together and numerous adoptions, but did not marry until the last few years that their relationship would exist. Jolie recently filed for divorce from Brad, making allegations that he was abusive to her and to their children.
Alex Rodriguez and Cynthia Scurtis
Here is another couple who’s marriage ended in divorce because of infidelity. Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankee’s fame, cheated on Cynthia with singer and actress Madonna. Of course, Madonna, married to Guy Richie at the time, denied the accusations stating that her and A Rod were just friends. Scurtis filed for divorce in 2008 citing that Alex had become distant, had been involved in extramarital affairs, had committed marital misconduct and had emotionally abandoned her.
Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds
This is another relationship that ended because of cheating. Debbie Reynolds was a bright and shining star in her own right, famous for her appearance in “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” and many other films. She and Eddie were the parents of Carrie Fisher of the “Star Wars” franchise. It was Eddie’s sexual involvement with film goddess Elizabeth Taylor that ended his marriage to Reynolds. Taylor had set her sights on Fisher, and although the had a long string of marriages, she wanted what Debbie had. Taylor was known for cavorting with several married men in her life and didn’t seem to blink an eye when it came to stealing one from a wife. The affair and breakup of the Reynolds/Fisher marriage was a huge scandal at the time and turned into a media gossip column event. Sadly, Debbie Reynolds passed away this past year, within a few days of the death of her daughter Carrie.
Tori Spelling and Charlie Shanian
Spelling allegedly slept with Dean McDermott when she was still married to Shanian. The couple is rumored to have had a sexual encounter on the first night after meeting one another. They must have hit it off in grand style, because each of them decided that they would divorce their spouses so they could be together. Tori had only been married for fifteen months at the time that she and Dean got together. McDermott and Spelling eloped in May of 2006 and although we’re not sure about their exes, the couple seems to be very happy in their lives together.
Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid
Rumors began to circulate about an affair that had happened between Meg Ryan and Russell Crowe in June of 2000. While not all rumors are true, as it turned out, these were. The rumors alleged that Crowe and Ryan were seen by others on a movie set, getting a little more than friendly with one another. Within one month’s time, the couple separated. After they made the announcement to their fans in July of 2000, Ryan and Crowe continued on with their extramarital romance, but the affair didn’t last more than a few months after the damage had already been done between Ryan and Quaid. Their divorce was final in 2001.
Dita Von Teese and Marilyn Manson
Dita Von Teese was the wife of mega star Marilyn Manson. After the news that Manson and child star Evan Rachel Wood were involved in an extramarital affair, she filed for divorce within five days. It didn’t take Von Teese long to realize that she didn’t want to continue on in a relationship with a man that was seeing another woman. Manson and Wood continued on with their love affair which would be plagued with rocky shores. They were only together in an on again off again cycle that would continue for four years after the Von Teese Manson divorce.
Kevin Federline and Shar Jackson
Kevin and Shar seemed to have a good relationship and were a happy family in the early 2000s. They appeared to be doing fine in their marriage, that is until Britney Spears came on the scene. Shar did not know that Federline had been having an ongoing affair with Spears in early 2004. Shar became pregnant with another of Kevin’s babies. It wasn’t long until she discovered that her husband was being unfaithful to her. By the end of the year, Shar split with Federline over the affair and filed for divorce. It wasn’t long at all until Federline and Spears were themselves engaged to be married. This was yet another case of a famous celebrity stealing the spouse of another, similar to the Liz Taylor and Angelina Jolie affairs.
