It’s hard not to be impressed with Deborah Chow since she’s managed to show a great deal of skill and talent in what she does to this point. The fact that she’s kind of bounced around from one show to another isn’t so much a detraction as it is another reason to raise one’s eyebrows in approval since it means that she’s either been sought out or has been working hard to build a reputation for herself that is positive as well as advantageous since it places her firmly in a lot of talks for future projects that could only increase her popularity. At the moment she is definitely on the rise and seems to be headed towards bigger and better things, though it also seem as though she’s doing it on her terms and is keeping close to her own style as many directors enjoy doing throughout their careers. After all it’s their vision, it needs to come out that way for better or worse.
Here are a few things you might not have known about Deborah.
10. She’s been put on the Obi-Wan series for Star Wars.
Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter is just one of many that has managed to latch onto this story since questions about who might take on the Obi-Wan project, which has been talked about for quite some time now, were up in the air for a while until now. It seems that Deborah will be able to bring a very distinct and impressive style to this series as many seem to think.
9. Deborah is on social media but keeps her profile kind of private.
Keeping a social media account private makes it seem as though a person might have something to hide at some points but it might also be that she just wants to keep it private for fans, friends, and family so as to keep the number of trolls down since there are plenty of them out there. That’s something you can’t really blame anyone for.
8. She has directed Fear the Walking Dead.
Initially this show was kind of slow to get going, but once it started picking up steam a lot of people that had been waiting for the moment when it finally showed a bit of interest were rewarded since it got rolling in a big way. As of now it’s probably more well-regarded than its parent show, The Walking Dead.
7. She is a very educated woman.
Deborah has put in her time and earned her degrees while working on her career so you can’t say that she’s a flash in the pan talent that has a limited to incomplete education. She has the knowledge, the skill, and the experience at this point and has earned everything she has so quite honestly she’s a very impressive individual.
6. Deborah has worked on quite a few projects in her time.
In some ways it might seem as though she’s bounced around from one show to another in search of what she really wants, but in truth it seems that she’s doing what she wants and has had the opportunity to work on a lot of different sets while gaining experience and continuing to learn her craft in a very big and hands on kind of way.
5. Her net worth is somewhere around $1 million.
So far it would seem that her net worth is still rising as she’s been said to be worth a little under a million or somewhere in the range of it. How much she’s really worth is kind of a subjective idea, but given that she’s taking on projects for Disney you can imagine that the number is going to go up dramatically at some point.
4. She’s a writer as well as a director.
This seems kind of important for any director since honestly if you can direct someone all day and night it’s a great skill, but unless you can understand the story as well and possibly make additions or subtractions to it and have the whole thing still make sense then a person might be lacking in the kind of skills they’re really needing to be as good at their job as they can be.
3. She has been nominated and has won a couple of awards.
This isn’t too surprising really since after reading just a bit about her it would seem that Deborah should be getting the kind of attention that so many directors want.
2. She grew up in Canada.
It sounds as though her family emigrated from Australia to Toronto when she was still very young and this is where she grew up for most of her life.
1. Her first feature film came out in 2010.
Nearly a decade in sounds about right for any director to be getting the kind of attention that she is now, but she’s been on the radar of many people for a while.
Who else is a little more excited for Obi-Wan now?
