It’s been a while since we’ve seen her face, but she’s on her way back to Days of Our Lives with a vengeance. She is Abigail, but she left more than a year ago, and her character was played by Marci Miller during this time. While Miller did a stellar job portraying Abigail, she recently announced she was on her way out and Mansi would return to take back her role as Abigail. We thought you might want to learn a few thins about her as we prep to see her return.
She was Abigail for Years
Kate Mansi played Abigail for five years from 2011 to 2016 before she left the role to move on to other ventures. She was recast with another actress, though, which paved the road for her to come back and reprise her role as Abby.
Her First Role Was A Fun One
So many actresses get to spend their time acting in small roles here and there, but how many of them get to say their first role on television — ever- was a chance to play a character in “How I Met Your Mother?” Mansi played Amanda, a girl who made her appearance on the hit sitcom for an episode in 2008.
She Won An Emmy
Not only is Mansi a fan-favorite when it comes to the role of Abigail, she also won an Emmy to prove it. She was nominated for, and took home, the 2017 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. It was a big win for her, and it was a big win for the show.
She Likes Television Like Everyone Else
Kate Mansi is every adult woman who cannot handle when her favorite shows come to an end. She took to Twitter at the end of the recent television season to ask her fans what she might watch next now that summer is here and all the good stuff is gone until September. They had a number of recommendations for her, but we don’t know what she chose.
She’s a Fan of The Royals
We are talking about the actual real life royal family. When Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in May, she spent the day doing what every other woman in the world did; tweeting about it, showing off photos, and basically questioning every decision she ever made in life that didn’t allow her to be the bride that day.
She’s From A Big Family
Kate Mansi knows what it’s like to have a lot of siblings. Her parents are divorced, but they didn’t divorce until after they had her and her sister. Both remarried and had more kids, so she has one full sister and an additional five half-siblings combined. She likes it, and she wouldn’t change her role as big sister to so many.
Abigail Wasn’t Her First Days Audition
Kate Mansi was looking for a role on Days for a long time before she came across the role of Abigail. She auditioned three years prior for the role of Melanie, which went to actress Molly Burnett (who, incidentally, is headed to General Hospital to take over the role of Maxie for a while). She had to wait three years before the show decided they wanted her as Abby.
She Loves the Cooking Channel
Then again, so do most of us. It’s like watching amazing food that you know you can’t bring home to cook for yourself, but you get to pretend it’s your reality. We don’t know if she can cook or not, but we do know that she’s got a love of this channel, and she likes to sit back and watch Giada more than any other chef.
She’d Love A Transformative Role
Mansi is super inspired to take on a role someday that requires she change her entire life, body, mind, and soul. She’s looking to do something like Charlize Theron did when she portrayed a killer in “Monster” or like Natalie Portman when she portrayed a difficult ballerina in “Black Swan.” What we glean from this is she wants to earn herself an Oscar.
Speaking of Natalie Portman…
Kate Mansi is very inspired by this actress. She’s been watching her as long as she can remember, and she says she’s always been captivated by her roles, her abilities, and her skill. She also calls Audrey Hepburn her other favorite actress, which also brings happiness to her life.
